I do care to answer few things. After all sajha is for expressing one's opinion and discussing things and ideas related to Nepal and Nepalis in a cordial and respectful manner.

Let us not misconstrue this issue. Discussing about caste related issues and sharing information is perfectly fine in sajha. What is not fine is to accuse a certain caste of being lobhi. What is not fine is to misrepresent, demoralize, derogate, degenerate, designify, defame, defile, abuse, exploit, offend, bad mouth, vilify, inundate, mistreat, victimize, slander, and instigate a certain caste.

If someone posts an article from a valid source with data showing X% of caste occupy 90% of administrative positions in Nepal, that is simply dissemination of information, and cannot be considered casteist thread. But if someone goes ahead to bad mouth a certain caste then it clearly shows the intolerant nature of the user(s) in question.

Okay let me get to this particular incident and the reservations raised herein.

Everyone knows speeding is illegal yet everyone (most) drives above the speed limit at various points in their driving career. When you get stopped by the police you cannot argue with the police saying oh there were all these other drivers in front who were speeding faster!

If something is wrong, a line needs to be drawn at some point in time, and the time happened to be this thread whose topic clearly is of discriminatory nature. (The banning of the user is not really important. In fact I have unbanned him - his 2nd post does show some remorse.)

The nature of sajha is that things tend to be pretty laid back and lenient as far as censoring because I believe there is an inherent good in mankind and that any negative behavior will stop after a given point. Most of the time its true and things fall into the black hole of oblivion in the annals of sajha archives. But sometimes due to adrenaline and the perceived ethnic divide, the caste issue tends to stick around a bit longer. When these intolerant things stick around more than normal then I, as an admin, have to step in to make sure too many feathers are not ruffled for too long a period.

Lot of sajha friends who have stuck around longer have been witness to a lot more reservations placed upon the admin who has to step in at some point in time. For example in this thread I am blamed for acting upon anti-Newar threads. Please be assured that I can dig up more threads like this where I have been blamed. It's human nature to tilt reality towards your own prejudices and I don't have anything against anyone pointing fingers at me.

In this thread, questions are being raised for acting upon anti-Bahun thread.

As long as questions like this are raised, we can safely assume that castist sentiments are still strong. As far as fairness and equality goes in sajha and in my own person experience - everyone is equal until proven otherwise.

As far as castism in sajha is concerned, the act of stepping in to stop the bullet is more important than who is saved when. The fact is - noone deserves the bullet (for being a certain caste).

We need to channel our castist sentiments for a greater good. As small tributaries flow into the great ocean, all of our small ethnicity makes the broader Nepal, and we need to be focussed on the greater good of the broader Nepal than bicker with each other on our differences.

I do agree that we have to be respectful to each other. FReedom of SPeech should be excersixe very catiously.

ALL I remeber now is a scene from SPider Man - " WITH POWER COMES GREAT RESPONSIBILTY"...

And I have always seen in real world, that most of the time power is misutilized, and in my believe, SAN just gave an example.

I think U just did that.

I do Went through all the post ( thats What I do usually). I went again just in case If i missed something important. I didn't missed anything.

ALL I saw was ur constant effort in proving that you were being neutral, and the act was the right thing for Sajha Admin. There is difference in saying and doing. No matter what ppl say, their acutal characters comes from their deeds. Let me remind you, a mistake cannot be corrected by talking about or giving example of another mistake. ( I don't mean here that u made a mistake). U did what you thought was right, and I am just doing the same.

Another thing, I never like these caste systems. We should be proud of our cultures, backgrounds, and our roots. There are few things u said were real good --- that we all are Nepalease first, and before that we have humanity, but again saying is different that doing. I never put myself in any kind of conversatations that inculde caste systems and any other that just brings us more hatered, rather than bringing us close.

Well, I have my all rights to believe what u did was wrong. And your more writings and reply will not change my mind. I would rather suggest you to prove me wrong (I am a human being, and I do make mistakes) , and take this oppurtunity in the future. And I will wait and see....

I thought we are on the right track now. Now no caste base derogation, no more. Even though this thread was related to discrimination finally become solution to the rooted problem.

I appreciate the guy who generated this thread. It should have been done long time back. Nevertheless, better late than never.

Actually it should have been the problem of illitrate people and we should have been there to pull them out from these kinds of menatality but it has been just opposite. Anyway we have seen the world and how the world is dividing with such kind of criticism and it is of no favour to any one of us. Should have realized it earlier and moved towards unity could have saved hell lots of time on good things rather than this crap. I see this way - Little Intervention from Sajha admin is good. Since this is a public forum, and mojority of ideas, thoughts, and views comes from sajha users, it should be us, who should decide. I am not telling to vote or ban thread, as I believe in freedom, and many times it is just that person is trying to express his thoughts just for fun or may be becoming popular in sajha or what-so-ever reason. Besides, who are we to judge someone? I am definately not in a position to judge ppl.

But we all,  as a users of sajha- you, me, and many ppl like us- can do is just ignore the fact that someone is posting some racist or castist topics. We give continuity to any thread and keep it alive. If we don't response it, within few hours it just dissappers like it was never there before. Tara. kaha huncha ra testoe...hami nepali ko bani........kina sahayra basnay hai...josh chadaie cha.....

I don't know where I read...But I read something like - If u play with pig in the mud, all you get is dirt all over you, but pig enjoye it.

I always try to avoid these kind of conversations in sajha, But today I didn't like SAN act justifyable. Hope he will contine this trend in the future.

We should talk about caste system but in a civilized way. Calling bahuns cunning or newars wasteful etc. is not respectful but talking about the differences and similarities is civilized etc.

It is a fact that bahuns are being criticized the most for the everything that's happening in Nepal. And in their defense, poeple are requesting to put aside these caste things and hatred. Which is good proposal.

Then why the hell they are so much attached to their "surnames"???? Why don't you start droping these surnames...?? As long as you are attached to the surnames, it's the indication that you are trying to show that you are different than others.
