Can somebody explain some of the important things about fafsa. I did went through its web page but I am pretty sure there might be some important things that has to be done in order. If somebody is still unsure about which college he or she will attend, then how do you proceed with fafsa. Sincere answers will be greatly appreciated. thankx.

Apply it. Simple as that. The website is pretty self explanatory. I tool fafsa grants during my undergrad years. I think the difference between Grad and Undergrad is amount of money you can take as loan. As for Pell grant, it solely depends on your income and current social conditions which is basically you W2s and tax forms. Undecided student does not make a whole difference when applying. Seems like you have not even started applying, there is form where you input your potential colleges/univ. hope it helps.

International students cannot apply for fafsa. One of the requirement to file for fasa is that you have to be a citizen or a permanent resident.

If you are unsure about which college to attend then you can send the fafsa application to more than one school (all the school you applied). if you keep fillin out the information in certain page it will ask you to list the name of the school... just add all the school you applied and it will send ur apps to all of em.. If you have any particular question about it let me know.. before you start.. make sure you have a pin of your parents and yourself... takes about 48 hours to get it...

thankx last buddha. If i file fafsa, how exactly they will process it. Do I get a cheque which i take it to the school, or school gets the money straight. I am kind of confused here, if i give more than one school name how exactly it gets processed. As this is my first time, and eventhough i try to look in some online instructions i think i need some fafsa for dummies step.

Papermoon, You do not get money right away. Once you finalize your school, the process really starts taking some shape. Basically, school will ask if you have applied for Fafsa or not. If you did, school will "get in touch" with Fasfa and Fafsa follows up with you. Fafsa will provide you with different options of financial depending on your need. So like Little Buddha mentioned, get started on your PINs, applications et cetera - you will see whole process unfold infront of your eyes, sort of like magic :-).

Srry papermoon i was away for awhile, like N said once u fill it up regardless of how many school u put in the list its done.. fafsa and the collge u go to will take care of it.. and the money goes straight to the college u go to.. be careful though they usually offer student loans and stuff if u dont want to take the whole loan or just take it half of it you can do that via filling out some sort of form (you can get that from your financial aid office) also piece of advice also apply for work study cuz if u get one its will be lot easier to find a job in campus (assumin you plan on working for pokect money) get started its not too late yet... dont forget to make pin for ur self and your parents and when u go to college take ur and ur parents federal tax file.... i dont know abt your college but the college i attend ask for one after i file of fafsa... if u havnt done fafsa yet do it now.. its never too late for fafsa even though college ask by mid march. Good luck and if any help needed let me know... i should be here for a while lol
