I think most of the schools do approve CPT from the first day of school but it has some deadlines you need to consider, and for that you have to contact the school you are trying to go. But CPT mainly depends upon the "offer letter" you receive from the company, which is almost similar to applying for job and getting offer from them (most difficult part at this time)........ Once you have the offer letter, you have to fill out all the necessary forms to apply for internship and along with your offer letter you have to get it approved by the college (maybe International office and/or Registrar's office and/or your Department)...... all these things you have to do before the deadline........ once your internship is approved, you'll receive a new I20 which states your CPT date from the first day of the semester till the last day of semester..... again each college have their own rules, some of them dont' allow 40 hours while you are studying full time while others do because if its full time CPT you might be most probably working 9-5 monday to friday and you can't go to school for your classes unless you are taking evening classes...... and i don't think any college will allow international student to be full time status only by CPT, if you have only 3 or 6 credit hours to graduate you might be approved and can even replace them with your CPT credits...... if you have more questions you can shoot me an email but i can't directly help you find the school. you got to do on your own, i can give you idea on finding those schools near your area....... good luck

You are right most of the schools allow CPT only after 2 semesters (for international students) but you wanna check if they mean 2 semesters in their school or any school in US.... i transferred to 3 different colleges and my last one allowed me to take CPT from the very first semester i joined them since i already spent more than a year in US while others who had spent only one semester in different school were not allowed...... so i don't know what your case is..... whether you are transferring or if this is your second semester in US or you are applying from outside US. but you can always shoot an email to those schools you have checked.......

hi Saku, you can try http://www.collegeboard.com/ and search for colleges around New york/Jersey area....... filter your criteria and limit the results that is best suitable for you..... and are you asking for a university that "offers/provides" CPT or "allows" CPT...?? I guess you are a nursing student and want to work for a hospital while being a student at university, right?? you can contact the college directly (from the above search result), and have all your questions answered......
