I don't think it's a good idea to alter here as they would charge more. labor cost is more here.
It is a good idea to go to store and buy new one.
I had similar situation, I had to replace pin in my watch. I went to sears and one pin costs $ 5.00; whereas you can buy a decent new watch for $ 20 or more.
The philosophy here seems use and throw, not repair.

most dry cleaners do it. Jeans will be more expensive. Maybe $20. if its a good pair of jeans, it might be worth it.

google "Alteration" near by your zip code, and alter anything, anyway you want. if you happen to be a lucky guy, then you can sometimes alter your turi in the store for free since most of the time you can find a horny chinese single in the strore.
