@namitrathapa What are you trying to imply by this " Do you think my DV application will effect my chances of getting F1?"But as far as AOS goes it's a complicated process but it has no connection with your F1 status. I did AOS in 2007 without impacting my F1 status. if you have any questions about AOS feel free to email me I will answer to my best knowledge

@marleysantosh In one of the pre visa session in USEF the speaker(who was a counselor of US embassy nepal) said that the one of the main aspect that they see in the F1 visa interview is that the intent of the student applying.they want to make sure that the applicant will return back to nepal aftetr they have completed their studies.
this was the back ground
Once I have applied for DV (immigrant visa ) my intentions are to stay in US, and if I again apply for F1 than they counselor might suspect my intention of return, in this way I think my F1 might be rejected.
What do you ppl think as must of you are in the US and have been involved in this situation one way or other

@ namitrathapa I am assuming that you are applying for F1 from Nepal. AOS is only for people who are already in US with some kind of visa. But if you are in Nepal I don't know what is the process??
