Folks:
I was looking for a car and found an attractive deal on a car that has a rebuilt title. The current owner told me that the car met with an accident and the windshield was damaged and hence was "salvage" title issues and then rebuilt to get a "rebuilt" title. He claims that there has never been any issues with the performance and safety. Also, I can get it for a couple thousand dollars cheaper than the suggested retail value.
Anybody has any experience with similar case?
Help/suggestion (genuine only please) appreciated.
Thank you!

The problem with the salvage title is that you never know how bad the car is, there may not be any damage where as some cars have frame damage. I sure the car didnt only have windsheild damaage. Check the body of the car, it will surely have fillers inside. Knock the side where accident occoured and the back body without accident, you'll find the sound is different.
Also selling the car like that is a hassale.
If you decide to buy the car have i inspected by a mechanic completely !!!!
There was a guy in sajha who was offering free VIN checks, find that thread. Im sure he will help you out. Have a good one.

Take to the mechanics or dealer before u buy that car coz don believe on owner . Simply they have to sell their car so they will tell u its gud but If u take to the mechanics before u buy and spend around $100 They will inspect everyhting and tell u whether there is any serious problem in engine or not.If windshield is only the case that won't be big problem .But Never trust on onwer words so take to good mechanics or to the dealer and they will tell u history and present condition about that car.

Do u really believe that someone would salvage their car for only "windshield" damage? Definitely take it to mechanics before you buy.

Last year, someone advise me this way' " if I were you, never buy a salvage title car". No body knows what is fixed and who fixed it and condition of the car is very much compromised.

Which car ( make model n year u r goi ng to buy for how much?) Do you wanna die? Of course not? So why compromise with safety. The main issue is not the health of the engine or car, the main issue is how safe are u behind the wheels. Most salvage titles have blown out air bags n filled with paper n rags. Although people say it is seat belt that saves lives but in some serious cases of accidents you wouldnt survive if air bags didnt deploy, so don't buy. Better go for 2 years older car but with clean title.
