Hello All:
I am in OPT now but planning to join Grad School from January. I am already accepted to the Grad School too but my I-20 is not issued yet. Today morning, I realized that I lost my OPT card while ago. I called USCIS but I was told it will take 3month to send another card that made me worried. I am wondering if the Scool requires or OPT card to issue I-20? Whoever faced this kind of problems please share what happend with you. I would really appreciate it.
Thank you,

If you have the copies of your card, you will be okay.

Talk to the international office(from where you have got your OPT)...they might be able to help you in this case (some of them keep the copy of your OPT card).

Jhilke :)

I assume you already know the followings but I just want to re-iterate them.
- Most prolly Graduate School does not require OPT card.
- Talk to ISO( Int'l Student Office) about your problem.
- ISO should also have a copy of your OPT card or you might have send a copy to them too. ( possibility)
- You might have also send a copy to  your Consultant/Recruiter/Resume-Marketer (possibility)

i guess it should not make a problem as on your I-20 on the 3rd page, it does mention till when your opt ends, i mean the end date of the opt period. It is not worth of applying again to USCIS becasue you gotta pay 380$ and it does take almost the same time  of the time which take you to get your opt card in the begining. I had went to Nepal 6 months ago on opt but i had misplaced my opt at the time i departed for Nepal. But, i had bought the tickets and had already taken off from work to go to nepal, so i travelled nepal and I had applied for the replacement for my opt as I would need that on my way back to USA at the immigration. Luckily, I had found my opt card when I was on the way to Nepal. But even after i got back from Nepal, my opt card that i had applied for replacement was still on the process..... .
Bottom line is, you should not have a problem and the other thing is that, it shows on your sevis the duration of ur opt.
