Do dso need to report to sevis to terminate your status after you are dropped from school or it's automatic.

I really need to find out my sevis is terminated or not. How cani find it.

As far as my knowledge, as soon as DSO informed the USCIS that the student have not been enrolled in any class, the USCIS will automatically terminate your SEVIS and you'll become Out of Status. In some case, if you didn't pay the due balance and didn't inform the DSO or Bursar ofifce about the situation, there's a high chances, your SEVIS will be terminated. Few semester ago, the DSO of my school told me that they will inform the USCIS only one month after the school starts. She exceptionally helped my at that time and told me i don't have to worry about it until and unless i turn in all the documents before she report the USCIS. Hope that info helps you.

I wanted to reply to your thread way back, but didn’t have my login/password handy! Here is what I wanted to share.

My wife paid SEVIS for one university to which she was denied visa and forgot to update the SEVIS information at the university she was granted visa to, six months later.

Fast forward to second masters three years later and this new school says she does not have any SEVIS record anywhere.

We googled and quickly found out you can check SEVIS status online [https://www.fmjfee.com/i901fee/dhs/loadSearchPage.do]. Sadly, my wife's SEVIS info didn't exist. We were scared as shit, and with a heavy heart, we reluctantly wrote to the SEVIS office explaining what happened and if the office could suggest the best course of action at this time. The SEVIS page has an email address you can write to (Check this page for appropriate email - http://www.ice.gov/sevis/contact.htm.)

We received a reply in less than 5 hours, and the officer said that there was no active SEVIS information about my wife in the database.

Here is the best part - he urged us to pay it, which we did outright using an ATM card! We printed the receipt and took it to the DSO! She checked the status and all was good (knock on wood!).

So my suggestion is, write to them.

Good luck!

@Nagarjun,

I went thru the same situation as you are right now. If you already paid your sevis to another I-20 (Univeristy A) and transfered to another I-20 (University B) and your passport holds the Sevis Id of University A, you can :
Either,
1) Send an email to fmjfee.sevis@ice.dhs.gov and mention what happened in details and request if they can transfer your sevis payment to your new I-20.(i.e, your new sevis ID)

(Normally they will transfer your sevis fee if the payment was made within a year. Sevis fee payment expires after a year. I doubt you can transfer your sevis fee to your current sevis ID)

OR,
2) Request your university B(Current univeristy), if old sevis ID can be transferred to your current I-20 ?
OR, ( the final option )
3) Make a payment of additional $200 dollar to your current sevis ID.

FYI: I didn't know my sevis fee hasn't been paid until I received a RFE (Request for Evidence) during my H1B application.

@ Nagarjun.

Yes, I had. Since you paid the Sevis fee for your 2nd School, you are just fine. I got my H1 approved after I paid my Sevis to my current school ID.

You are just like the other students who came on a Student Visa. There should be no problems at all. Good luck with your future careers.
