Am I illogical to ask for Baidya's arrest?
A leader openly challenges the laws and rules of a country. The leader enjoys all the perk of the law and order of that country but doesn't want to uphold his end. He has taken full responsibility for the Nepal bandh and has threatened a grave outcome if the bandh is not followed. His cadres have burnt public vehicles and planted several explosive materials through-out the country. Why then can we not arrest the person who has openly claimed the responsibility for these actions? How is a person who plants a bomb for any other reason different to these political leaders who are doing pretty much the same?
Protests should be allowed, but if somebody uses violent means I am all for using every forcible way to suppress such action. Am I wrong on wanting this? Should we have some type of provision in the new constitution to condemn such protests?

KATHMANDU, NOV 13 - CPN-Maoist Chairman Mohan Baidya has said that he is ready to offer himself for voluntary arrest if the government is making preparations to detain him as rumoured outside.
Speaking at Reporters Club in the Capital on Wednesday, Chairman Baidya denied his party's involvement in the widespread of incidents of bombings in various places across the country.
He claimed that it was obvious for the agitating cadres and people to resort to arson. He held the government and the major political parties responsible for inviting such situation.

Before I posted my question, I thought about it. I know a simple political arrest doesn't harm the politician, it actually makes them look even better. Rather, credible proofs should be gathered and these leaders should be sent for a longer term. Every single person who are found vandalizing should face grave penalties. It's because of these leaders who provide them the safe heaven that protestors resort to merciless vandalism and terrorist (what else would you call them) activities.

To your first question, No, I don't. But what does that have to do anything with arresting Baidhya? Just because other parties won't change their antics, we let anybody terrorize the country whenever they want? To your second point, forget about changing anything. I just want a culprit to be punished for his doings. If you are directly responsible for the explosives then you should face jail time, regardless of what change it induces upon the country.

Mohan Baidya is planning for another civil war as I guess and he is just warming up.If his ideaologies are given chances to thrive, the country will again jump into another havoc.Yes,he should be put behind those bars for arousing terror in peaceful minds and enticing naive comrades for throwing petrol bombs in running vehicles, injuring kids. These spineless bugs are all too happy to achieve political powers by performing politics of fear and should be nip in the bud before it gets out of control...why not put him in the middle of the bazaar and the lucky ones throws petrol bomb..targeting him!!!.

Brilliant observation quoted from Facebook
" The Art of War part X by Sun Tzu: (1) prevent political parties from campaigning with so called transportation strike while you travel by copters to campaign (2) gauge public support to your chances of winning when you come closer to D day; if chances are slim, create more violence n tacitly support the 33 team to postpone the election. Smart !"

In all this chaos, I think we have to take time to appreciate the current government while we can. This is probably the first time security forces, specially Nepal Army, to a high extent is used to conduct a safe election. Leaders in the past had their own motives and enforcing a strict election policy would backfire on them. Regmi Government, at least on surface, has been very unbiased with the focus to conduct a safe and sound election. While the incidents of explosions have been reported, few friends mentioned how safe they felt when they saw public transports being escorted by security forces. We sure could use this government for a longer duration, but the fact is Nepal Maoists will again claim to be the largest party (no clear majority) and then we will have political negotiations where people end up losing every single time. Don't forget their agenda of dividing Nepal by ethnic groups. I am also appreciative that youth are taking the leadership role (Go Bibeksheel), rather than just being the sticks for the older leaders.

Culture plays an important role in shaping any society. In Nepal, a culture of bad politics has been established. A tree is the result of seed. Whatever there is in seed will be the layout of that tree. The root problem of Nepal is education. People are ill educated. Therefore, we should focus on small children by making sure that every children are educated. However, present education system of Nepal is outdated. A true eduaction brings humility in one's behavior. Therefore, if we want to see a prosperous Nepal in future, we must act NOW by bringing about a radical revolution in the education system of Nepal. Whatever there is in the mind, we see it outside as reality. All human institutions are nothing but the human mind itself. Therefore, we can bring change in Nepal only by bringing change in Nepalese mind.

http://www.ekantipur.com/2013/11/15/editors-pick/anti-poll-leaders-face-arrest/380829.html So the Government is planning to arrest Baidhya and his top followers. It might happen or might not happen; one thing that's for sure will happen is that it won't make a ding on Baidhya's power and he might get more publicity out of this. The only way to make an impact is to follow-through. Why is he getting arrested? For the crimes committed, for the terror created? If that's the case, his punishment should be greater than just few days of arrest; lives are being lost here so it only justifies to arrest him for a long period. If he gets out within a week, that is like a vacation for Baidhya. At least we are on right track.
