My mother is traveling from JFK to KTM via Emirates Airlines on June 20. She does not speak and understand English well. I was wondering if anyone you know is traveling to Nepal from JFK in Emirates Airlines on the same day? If someone is, and could help my mother, I would really appreciate it. Thanks, Rock-N-Roll

Not directly related to your question: I though emirates does not fly to Nepal. What airlines are you flying from UAE to kathmandu?

Seems like my mother has to travel on her own. How difficult/easy is it to change terminals in Dubai International Airport (terminal 3 to terminal 2)? Thanks

Reserve wheelchair for her. They will take care for her all the way to KTM. They will even provide food in transit if it is more than 4-5 hr layover.

Wheelchair is the perfect solution. Ask your mom to pretend she can't walk well because of joint problems. Done that for my dad although he could not hear well, although he could speak English perfectly.

I guess it is a little late for the reply. Anyway others might be in the similar situation. But it felt a little uneasy as I read some of the comments or suggestions. Please do not resort to lying for that. I mean if you feel uncomfortable in your conscience doing that. I would assume your mother knows a little bit of english after stying int he US for awhile, or even if she doesn't understand or speak English at all, perhaps you could make several notecards for her with Nepali on one side and its English equivalent on the other side that she could show to someone int he airport to get help. Think of the things she would need and just prepare bunch of notecards for her.

Thanks guys for your replies. She safely landed in Nepal on her own today. Changing terminals on Dubai was a bit difficult for her but she managed it by asking for help. As ramas mentioned, I had made a few notecards for her. Thanks again guys. TTT
