My wife applied for TPS back in august, and is working using her EAD from TPS, although she has not received the actual TPS approval letter. When i checked TPs status on USCIS website, it still says "finger print received as of date...". Her Driver License is expiring and when we went to DMV to renew License they asked for actual TPS rather than EAD. How to get around this situation. Please Share your experiences if anybody had to go through this situation. Thanks in Advance.

EAD should help. They should not be asking for TPS since EAD is valid government issued identity card that defines your legality in USA.

Most States are giving away Driver License to illegal immigrants, it is so strange that your State DMV is unable to issues DL with EAD issued by Dept of Homeland Securities. What a joke!!
Once you give EAD to DMV, they put that EAD number to DHS online SAVE database connected to DMV database to verify that EAD is a real EAD card or not.
Once they pull out the info for DHS , they would look for your status, in your TPS case, it would be C19 or A12 .
Once they see C19 or A12, you are good to go.
NOW GIVE ME THE NAME OF YOUR STATE AND COUNTY OF YOUR DMV, I REALLY LIKE TO PUT THEM ON THE LIST.

It must have been in Virginia. Go to a different DMV with your EAD.

Do you have any friend in MD? I think it is the easiest state to get DL. If you have friends , check with them.
