As family and friends of the Phuyals, we wanted to share what they are going through and ask for your help.
On May 19th, 2020, Aryan Phuyal had a seizure and was rushed to the ICU of Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina. He was later diagnosed with Medulloblastoma, a malignant form of Brain Cancer. His family was told that there was a buildup of excessive fluid and a golf-ball-sized tumor in his brain, and that it required immediate surgery. Fortunately, Aryan survived long hours of brain surgery, and other necessary invasive procedures in the hospital.
After 17 challenging days in the hospital, Aryan finally returned home. His mom and dad are taking turns to look after him on his bed. He still has a shunt in his brain removing excess fluid and is receiving nutrients directly into his stomach from a drip machine. Moreover, Aryan has been doing his daily clinical visits to the hospital to receive chemo- and radiation therapy for the last two weeks. According to his doctors, as his tumors have infiltrated into the deeper brain tissues and the spinal cord, he needs to continue these treatments for weeks, if not months, to come.
Aryan is a 13-year-old 7th grader in Ridge Road Middle School in North Carolina. Like many other boys of his age, he enjoys watching Disney movies, playing board games, and spending time with his family. He is known for his bright personality, which fills any room with joy. His favorite subject is science. His time in the hospital has inspired him to become an oncologist in the future.
We would like to help alleviate some of the financial burdens and assist with medical expenses so that Aryan and his family can focus on fighting this battle together. Please help us support this deserving family in their time of crisis.
Thank you.
