I am going to Kathmandu via Bahrain with Gulf air in December. Since I have 12 hours transit in Bahrain, there is also free hotel at Bahrain by Gulf Air.
Can anyone share your experience with Bahrain airport transit hotel by Gulf Air? Is it good? I was being told that transit hotel is outside Airport in the city. Do we need any kind of VISA for such transit hotel by Gulf Air? Will there be any issues?

Please share your experience.

But, I think, you may need to receive your baggage if you decide to stay at hotel outside airport.

hi bkshres, if you've 12 hr transit and you've been told then you will be provided with a hotel. don't worry..its quite simple..but do double check with yr travel organizer to have your name clearly for STPC. 1. after arrival at BHR,  go to the 'stopover/hotel/taxi counter' near the tranist/visa area..show yr BHR-KTM boarding pass and yr pp.. your 'printed STPC voucher' will already be there in their table waiting for you.. they will give it to you and everything will be listed in their voucher (e.g.  transfer, 1 visa, 1 dinner, 1 breakast, room )..follow the 'visa' line show that voucher..and they will stamp a 24 hrs visa..go down.wait for the hotel transfer car..check in the hotel. (the hotel will keep yr passport)..you might be given a shared room  etc..the next day the hotel will transfer you back 3 hrs prior to the chk in time..follow the immigration..they will stamp your departure...

hotels can be 30 min drive in teh city...depending on the city from where you arrive..a simple 'All seasons' apartment-type hotel or even a better 4-5 star may be given.it depends.

so my experience so far has been its simple and straigh forward exercise. You don't need to worry abt yr checked baggage. just check them to KTM directly. carry yr basics in yr handcarry if you want (toothbrust etc)

I had a pretty good experience. We were told to claim our baggage but we went to the counter and told them that we didn't know anything about it and they understood. But I would make sure u don't have to pick it up when u get ur boarding pass here in USA. U get dinner at night and breakfast. Pretty good. They do take ur passport, and if u tell them to wake u up, they will. You do need a visa and its really easy. when u get off the plane, dont go in the line that takes u through security check. That way will lead u too transit area.

Thank you MaanNepali and Jetho390.

I have few more questions.
- When I reach Bahrain airport, should I goto Gulf Air counter for hotel coupon?
- Is the Bahrain transit visa, taxi to hotel, return back taxi to airport all organized by Gulf Air?

I believe you do go to Gulf Air Counter for hotel coupon and as for transit visa,  you get it before you exist to to baggage claim area, which is before the terminal exist After u exist that area, if you walk to the left there is a gulf air office, that is where I was picked up. Everything is organized bu Gulf Air i believe.

This is my experience:

I  had to wait more than 1 hr outside the airport terminal for the van from the hotel. Its crowded like a microbus in ktm. You will be provided a place to sleep and food to eat, but just don't expect any quality service. Good thing is there will be all Nepali people working in the hotel. I had to share a room with Bangladeshi migrant worker who happened to come from UAE. I have been in the terminal for about 14/15 hrs in S'pore and that was terrible and had to pay about 30-40 US $ for ~4 hrs of nap in the airport. Compared to that its way better. Have a safe trip!

By the way, they treat us like a s**t and are bunch of  manner less racist thugs!  I will avoid middle east route as far as possible!
