के त ८४ हजार डलर परिपूर्ती भो ॽ

 

एसोसिएसन अफ नेपाली इन अमेरिकाज (एएनए) को गत जुलाइमा सम्पन्न २८औं सम्मेलनमा भएको ८४ हजार घाटाको प्रसंगमा एएनका अध्यक्ष किन मौन ॽ भनेर अमेरिकाभरका नेपालीहरुमा अहिले चासो बढीरहेको छ भने सिङ्गो एएनए टीम फरार ॽ भएको अनुमान हुन् थालेको छ । कतिपय मानिसहरुले अड्कल थाप्न थालीसकेका छन् -'कमिसन खाने सुत्को साऊँ पनि फुत्क्यो' । एएनएको बर्तमान कार्य समितिलाई मान्नु पर्छ, सामाजिक संस्थामा कमिसन दोबर्याउने चक्करले यति ठूलो नाम कमाएको सायद बिस्व ईतिहासमा पहिलो नै होला । टेबुलमुन्तिरबाट हरिया नोट दोबर्याउने नेपाल सरकारका कर्मचारी र नेपाली जनताले तिरेको कर टेबुलमाथिबाटै दोबर्याउने नेपाली राजनीतिज्ञ तथा नेपाल सरकारका खाओबादी उच्च पदस्थ ठालुहरुलाई समेत माथ गर्ने एएनएको यो चर्तिकला मान्नै पर्छ डाएसपोराका नेपालीहरुले । 

 

साहित्य, कला, मिडिया, खेलकूद, समाजसेवा, कानून लगायतका क्षेत्रमा उपलब्धिपूर्ण काम गर्ने गरि १६ बुंदे घोषणापत्र जारि गरिरहंदा एएनए अध्यक्ष सिमोन ढुंगाना, उपाद्यक्ष मेदिनी अधिकारि, कन्भेनर सुन्दर गुरुङ, कोषाधक्ष उत्सब गुरुङ र महा लेखापरीक्षक हरि शर्माको मन खिन्न र ओठ कलेटी परेको देख्ने पाँच हजार नेपालीहरुको मनमा तुल्बुल जागिरहेको थियो । मानिसहरुलाई लाग्थ्यो किन ॽ त्यसो भैरहेको होला भनेर । अन्तिम दिन कन्भेन्सन स्थलबाट ढ्याउअ डकार्दै बाहिर निस्कदा ढुंगानाजीको अनुहार प्रफुल्ल देखिएपनि, नाक घिरौला जत्रो देखिएपनि मन मुग्ध थिएन । वहालाई यो कहिँ नभएको जात्राको रहस्य चाडै खुल्छ र फरार हुनुपर्ने हुन्छ भन्ने पहिल्यै थाहा थियो । यहि जात्राको अनुमान लगाउंदै, स्मारिका प्रकाशन गर्न लगाई भुक्तानी रोकिएका शाश्वत पराजुलीका सेल फोनका घन्टीहरु इग्नोर गर्दै, कन्भेनर सुन्दर गुरुंगलाई छल्दै, कोषाधक्ष  उत्सब गुरुंगलाई पर्खनुहोस केहि समय भनेर आस्वासन बाडदै, मेदिनी अधिकारिसंग  सुटुक्क भाग्नु पर्दाको क्षण अहिले ढुंगानाजीका लागि फलामको च्यूरा साबित हुँदैछ । 

 

एएनएलाई संघिय प्रणालीमा लैजाने अध्यक्ष ढुंगानाको फराकिलो र दूरदर्शी कदम भनेर उनका शुभचिन्तकहरुले त्यसै भनेका होइन रहेछन । ढुंगानाको फराकिलो र दूरदर्शी कदम भन्नाले 'मिलेर चपाउने वा एक्लै' भन्ने कुरोसंग सरोकार राख्ने बिसय हो जो सारालाई समयले देखाउला नै तर यति कुरो चाहिँ प्रस्ट भयो, एएनए भित्र चपाउन पाइदो रहेछ भन्ने सायद सबैले बुझे होलान । ६ महिना अघि सकिएको कन्भेन्सनको आर्थिक अनियमितताको गन्ध ३ महिना अघि वासिंगटन डिसी वरपर आउँदा बजारमा हल्ला चलेको थियो कि ढुंगानाले नैतिकताका आधारमा पद त्यागछन र छानबिन गर्नेलाई सघाउछन् कि छानबिन गर्नेले सत्य तथ्य पत्ता लगाएर  ढुंगानालाई बिदा गर्छन । एएनए कन्भेन्सनको हिसाव किताव फर्छ्योट भएको वा महा लेखापरिक्षकले लेखा परिक्षण गरि हिसाब किताब मिलान भएको जानकारी बाहिर नआएपछि अध्यक्ष ढुंगाना लगाएत एएनए कार्य समितिका सबैले कालो खाएको जस्तो भान पर्न थालेको छ । अहिले त मानिसहरुमा भान मात्र परेको छ, यहि स्थिति र रुप बोकेर पुन अर्को कन्भेन्सनमा जाँदा आपसी झडपको अबस्था नआउला भनेर कसैले भन्न सक्छ ॽ अरु कसैका बीच झडप नभए पनि दोबर्याउने र दोबर्याउन नपाउने बीच भीषण झडपको अबस्था नआउला ॽ दोबर्याउन बानि परेकाका लागि डलर भनेको 'गिद्दलाई सिनो' भने सरह होइन र ॽ

 

एएनए अध्यक्ष ढुंगानाको व्यक्तिगत हो वा एएनएको डलरमा डलस एअरपोर्टबाट लगन एअरपोर्टसम्म सबारी र त्यसकै बिपरित दिसामा निशुल्क फिर्ति सबारी, बसुन्जेल निशुल्क भोजन र ढुंगानाकै रोहबरमा होटलको महँगो कोठामा बास तथा होटलको महँगो सुरा समेतको रस स्वादन गर्न पाएका भर्जिनियाका एक भाग्यमानी पत्रकारले घुमाउरो पाराले लेखेका छन् 'सम्मेलन अध्यक्षको नैतिक जिम्मेवारीलाई आँखा चिम्लेर संस्थाका अध्यक्ष मात्र होइन सिंगो निर्वाचित टिमलाई निकम्मा सावित गर्न खोजिएको छ' । यसको सिधा र सरल अर्थ हो आर्थिक घाटाको सबालमा कन्भेनर सुन्दर गुरुङ जति जिम्मेबार छन् त्यति एएनए अध्यक्ष ढुंगाना जिम्मेबार हैनन् । मित्रलाई नै कन्भेन्सनमा लैजादा र ल्याउदा भएको कूल ८४ हजार घाटाको ८४ वटा हिस्सा मध्धे एक हिस्सा परेको हेक्का छ भने गुरुङ र ढुंगाना मध्धे अनियमितता तर्फ जिम्मेवारीमा कसको पल्ला भारी होला अनुमान गर्न सहज होओस ।

 
मित्रलाई सम्झना होला नै सिंहदरबार आगलागी हुँदा तत्कालिन प्रधानमन्त्रि किर्तिनीधि बिस्टले किन राजिनामा दिए होलान ? सिंहदरबार जल्नु अघि आगो झोस्ने त उनि थिएनन । कुनचाहि ढोके, बैठके, बगैचे, पाले, कुचे, पुलिस, सेना वा चुरोटेले आगो झोसेर सिंहदरबार डढेलो लाग्दा नैतिकताका आधारमा बिस्टले पद त्यागे । त्यो उदाहरण ढुंगानाको नजरमा नजिर जस्तो लाग्ने हो भने एएनएमा टासीरहनुको के अर्थ ? पत्रकार मित्रले ढुंगानाको सिधै बचाउ गरि भनेका छन् ' एएनएमा विगतका कैयन् वर्षदेखि  सम्मेलन अध्यक्ष सम्मेलन सफल पार्न र सम्मेलनको पूर्ण जिम्मेवारी लिएको इतिहास देखिएको छ । सम्मेलनमा संस्थाका अध्यक्षको भूमिका शो पिसका रुपमा रहेको हुन्छ र सम्मेलन पश्चात सम्मेलन अध्यक्ष सम्मेलनको कारोवार समाप्त गर्नेतिर लाग्ने र संस्थाका अध्यक्ष नियमित काममा लाग्ने परम्परा रहि आएको हो ।' मित्रले यो कुरो प्रस्टसंग खुलासा गरेनन र ढुंगानाको एकपक्षीय बचाउ गरेको जस्तो देखिएको छ । सम्मेलन अध्यक्षको जिम्मेबारी हिसाब किताब फर्छ्योट गर्नेतिर हुन्छ भनेर गुरुंगलाई अफेण्ड गरेको र ढुंगानालाई डिफेन्ड गरेको सबैले बुझे होलान तर मित्र नै आफु अनभिज्ञ भएको बिषय हो हिसाब किताब फर्छ्योट गर्ने त कोसाध्यक्षले हो, त्यो माथि आर्थिक कारोबारबाट आफुलाई भिन्न राखेका हुन् संस्थागत अध्यक्षले भने पत्रकार, कलाकार, मास्टर अफ सेरोमोनि भनेर आ-आफ्ना मान्छेलाई कन्भेन्सनमा बोकेर लगी कन्भेन्सनको खर्च बढोत्तरी गर्ने अधिकार संस्थागत अध्यक्ष ढुंगानाले कहाँबाट पाए ? खर्च बढोत्तरी आफु गर्ने घाटाको जिम्मेबारी अर्कालाई पन्छाउने यो कस्तो नैतिकता पत्रकार मित्रको लेख ढुंगानाको प्रायोजनमा भएको सबैको आसंका रहेको छ ।
 
कसैको प्रायोजनमा लेख लेखने र उसको चाकडी दर्शाउने पारा नेपाल पत्रकार संघका पत्रकारहरुको परम्परा  हो, नेपाली सेनाका जनरलहरुको रुपैयामा, नेपाल प्रहरीका अधिकृतहरुको रुपैयामा, तस्कर र दुई नम्बरिहरुको रुपैयामा, कर, अदालत, मालपोत, भन्सार लगाएतका भ्रस्टाचारी कर्मचारीहरुको रुपैयामा, सर्बच्व लुटेरा र डनहरुको रुपैयामा पत्रपत्रिका चल्छन नेपालमा । त्यतिमात्र होइन अहिले भारतीय दुताबासको लैनचौरबाट पनि बाडिने करोडौ रुपैयामा पत्रपत्रिकाहरु संचालित छन् । यो कुरो सबलाई थाह हुनु पर्छ । यो कुरो गलत हो भनेर जान्ने सुन्नेले त्यस्ता कुराको बिरोध गर्न सक्नु पर्छ । पत्रकारिता कसैको दलाली गर्ने, चाकडी भजाउने, गुणगान गाउने र भोजन गर्ने पेशा होइन । गलतलाइ गलत र सहिलाइ सहि भनेर जस्तो देख्यो तेस्तै प्रस्तुत गर्न सक्नु पर्छ पत्रकारिताले, जसबाट समाज लावान्वित हुन् सक्छ । पत्रकारितालाई समाजको चौथो अंग किन भनिएको होला पत्रकार मित्रले भाषा बुझे भने ढुंगाना र गुरुङ एएनए कन्भेन्सन र त्यस भित्रको अनियमितताका महान पात्र खोट्याउन सफल होलान ।
 
अहिले डाएसपोराका नेपालीहरुमा चासो बढिरहेछ - के त ८४ हजार घाटा परिपुर्ती भो ? त्यो परिपूर्ती गराउने जिम्मा पाएको एएनए अडिटर जनरल हरि शर्मा लगाएतको ३ सदस्यीय छानबिन आयोगले कसलाई देख्यो दोषी ? कसले तिर्ने भयो ८४ हजार ? नेपाल सरकारले नेपाली जनताको आखामा छारो हाल्न बनाउने गरेको छानबिन आयोग र एएनए कन्भेन्सन अनियमितता छानबिन आयोगको रुपरंगमा केहि भिन्नता देखिएको छैन किनकि यो छानबिन आयोग तत्कालीन रुपमा एएनए संस्थागत पदाधिकारी र कन्भेन्सन आयोजक बीचको तनाब कम गर्न संस्थागत अध्यक्ष ढुंगानाले बनाएको झारा टरुवा आयोग नै थियो, त्यसले गतिलो फल दिने सम्भाबना त्यतिखेर देखि नै थिएन ।
 
यदि सम्भावना थियो र ८४ हजार डलर दोषिबाट भुर्ताल गर्न आयोग सक्षम भएको हो वा ८४ हजार डलर उठ्ने ठेगान मिलेको हो भने एएनए प्रति चासो राख्ने तमाम् डाएसपोरा नेपालीहरुलाई त्यसको रिजल्ट देखाई पाम भन्ने आग्रह अहिले अमेरिकाभर बढिरहेको छ । छानबीन आयोगले दोषी पत्ता लगाएर डलर झार्न रिकमेनडेसन मात्रै गर्ने अधिकार पाएको हो भने पनि त्यसलाई सार्बजनिक गर्न अमेरिकाबासी नेपालीहरुले आग्रह गरेका छन् ।

10 years ago, ANA conventions used to be fun because there weren't a lot of Nepalis in individual cities. But thesedays there are thousands of Nepalis in each city so pretty soon people will not feel a need to go to another city for a convention. I went to couple of these conventions but every time it's getting worse and worse.

एएनएको ता-त्तातो खबर

 

यो मनुवा बिनोद कुमार नेपालको लगातारको खोज र लेखनका कारण अन्तत; बोस्टन कन्भेन्सन फ़िनान्सिअल् इन्भेस्टिगेसन कमिटि (बिसीएफआइसी) को इन्भेस्टिगेसन रिपोर्ट लुकाइएको ठाउबाट बाहिर निस्कन बाध्य भयो । बिसीएफआइसीले फ्याक्ट फाईनडिंगको रुपमा तयार पारेको यो एकजुक्युटिभ समरी हो र उसले अति गोप्य रुपमा राखेको यो समरी म बिनोद कुमार नेपालको हातमा बोस्टनस्थित कन्भेन्सन स्थलबाट आकासबाणी भै चुहिन बाध्य भयो । यो कसैले पठाएको होइन, आफै दौडेर-कुदेर-उडेर आयो, किनकी एक घण्टा अगाडी मैले बिसीएफआइसीलाई प्रतिबेदन सार्बजनिक गर्न र कोहि दोषी भए डाएसपोरा नेपालीहरुलाई सु-सुचित गर्न आह्वान गरेको थिएँ । बिसीएफआइसीले गुप्त ठाउमा राखेको र उडेर मकहाँ आएको रिपोर्ट भित्रको फ्याक्ट फाईनडिंग र अझ त्यस भित्रको एकजुक्युटिभ समरी म मेरा हजारौ पाठक मित्रहरु अझ बिशेस गरेर डाएसपोराका नेपाली मित्रहरुको लागि देहाय बमोजिम जस्ताको तस्तै प्रस्तुत गर्न चाहन्छु;

  

Soon after its inception, the Boston Convention Financial Investigation Committee (hereafter refer as BCFIC) sent an email to all the concerned parties requesting their help in completing this investigation and requesting for any documentation/proof of income and expenses incurred during the convention. The response to the request was lukewarm at best. Slowly, information trickled in from various sources. However, till date no proof of income has been provided by most of the teams from the Boston convention. The Committee received a provisional statement from Utsab Gurung (President of GBNC and Treasurer of ANA) which reflects that the revenue of Boston Convention was $82,578.00 and Expenses $165,385.81 resulting in a Net Loss $82,807.81. On November 1, 2010 ANA Treasurer provided the actual Financial Statement with income of $84,742.95 and Expenses of $170,918.75 without attaching all the supporting documents to BCFIC.

 

यो गुप्त रिपोर्ट सार्बजनिक हुन्थ्यो हुन्थेन कसैले नजर अन्दाज गर्ने ठाउँ छैन, भलै यो रिपोर्ट एएनए एक्जिक्युटिभ कमिटीमा बिसीएफआइसीले प्रस्तुत गर्नासाथ् एक्जिक्युटिभ कमिटीका पदालुहरुको मनमा भूइँचालो  गयो । संस्थापन अध्यक्ष सिमोन ढुंगाना र उपाध्यक्ष मेदिनी अधिकारि, कोषाध्यक्ष उत्सब गुरुङ र कन्भेनर सुन्दर गुरुंगको निद हराम भयो । रात एक गुणा दिन तीन गुणा बोस्टन र भर्जिनिया दौडादौड भयो । मिटिंग र ईटिंग, थिन्किंग र ड्रिंगकिंग टू मच । बेस्सरी वात मारियो, भला कुसारी गरियो, कसले राजिनामा दिने भनेर होडबाजी चल्यो । अध्यक्ष ढुंगानाले दिए नाकै काटिने, सुन्दर गुरुङ दिंदै नदिने, उत्सब गुरुङ मलाइ मतलब छैन भन्ने । कसले राजिनामा दिने ॽ र यो मुद्दा सामसुम पार्ने भनेर चर्काचर्किका बीच सफ्ट लाइनर भनेर चिनिने क्र्यास म्यानेजमेन्ट एक्स्पर्ट उपाध्यक्ष मेदिनी अधिकारिलाई  अन्त्यमा  राजिनामा गर्न लगाईयो र अधिकारीले बाटो छोडी दिने निर्णय गरेछन् अस्ति डिसेम्बर ८ तारिखका दिन । उनको राजिनामा पनि जस्ताको तस्तै ;

 

Dear Executive Board Members, past Presidents/Advisers, functional managers and Life Members/well wishers,
I would like to draw your attention at the current situation of ANA and the suggestions provided by the past Presidents/Advisers of ANA to resolve this issue. I fully agree with the past Presidents/Advisers  that the present Officers of ANA completely failed to work for the benefit of ANA to the extent completely ignoring its bylaws and taking action just to fulfill their own interest more than for the interest of ANA. I tried to correct the situation as a Vice President but I failed as other Officers are blindly supporting to save one or few persons disregarding the interest of ANA. So, in such a situation I felt it is my moral responsibility to step down and not to be part of this team.
The problem started from Boston convention and it became worst after convention due to mishandling of the financial decisions such as; reversal of hotel charges, spending the reversed money in no time, trying to hide some of irregular financial charges, not providing detail revenue account until very late, cover up unscrupulous spending, taking action with complete disregard of bylaws, tempering of minutes of the board meeting, disregarding the decisions of the board, obstructing for the implementation of Commission Report and Recommendations,  are few examples what this present officers are doing just to save themselves. But I strongly disagree on all these actions and was voicing from the very beginning but now I am fully convinced that this team of officers and the leadership of ANA are not working for the interest of ANA, and therefore, it is time for me to let everyone know that I am not part of this team and resigning from my post of Vice President under moral ground by accepting or respecting the very Commission’s Report and past presidents' sincere request. I was the chairman of the Boston Convention and the convention was historic (please read the Boston Declaration at anaonline.org) but we have financial management issues and it could have been well aborted if the leadership listened me on timely manner.
The issue I am raising here is the right vs. wrong and legal vs. illegal.  I cannot fit myself in this current leadership whose modus operand does not support right and legal.  A lawsuit seems lurking at the back and I still request everyone to step down and I am the first one to pave the way.  Realization of mistakes and moral acceptance makes a leader greater than his peer.
We have to respect and honor the laws of the land and bylaws of the organization that we belong and the executive decisions that we adopt during the meetings.  Nobody is above the organization and nobody can interpret the executive decision based on his interest.  For example, we had meeting on Nov 24th, the minutes has not been released yet.  One decision was to form the implementation committee but there was major interference by the president according to Dr. Hari Sharma. Seeing this, past Presidents who are also officially advisers of ANA have given advice in writing to the President and all Officers to step down at once and pave the way for rebuilding ANA. It is our moral duty to respect the advice of our Advisers (past presidents & founding members).
I knew about this letter last week and we had last officers’ meeting on Saturday and I announced about my resignation and encouraged everyone to follow suit.  But my friends were adamant about not giving up.  I wanted to announce this and brief all of you during the Oct 5th scheduled meeting but it was postponed indefinitely. How long can we prolong by postponing executive board meeting?
Hence, I have decided to step down voluntarily for now based on the commission’s Report and the past presidents’ calling.  It is a gentlemen’s gesture and I wish all of you, Officers will follow my footstep to save ANA.  Please rise to the occasion! I am not leaving my beloved organization for good.  I will be around for ANA to help this great organization which I helped build from modest to grand organization.  I will fully support and help to raise funds to rebuild ANA. I do not think a title matters to contribute ANA as long as you have good intention. I can always help and support ANA and will be there whenever it needs me.
Finally, I am an elected officer and I have thousands of people in my networks due to my long community service, charitable works and crisis management skills.  Therefore, I will have to let the public know about my decision and what is going on within the ANA and why I do not want to be part of this team. Since the president does not have authority after October 3rd meeting and the commission indicted everyone, I am tendering my resignation to Executive Board.  For all the Executive Board members, please hold the executive meeting as soon as possible and approve my resignation.   You have even bigger role to play now and if you would like to listen my concerns, I will address all of your questions.

राजिनामा निचोड होइन र समाधान त झन् हुँदै होइन । के त अब एक घण्टा अघि प्रेसित अनुमानित ८४ हजार डलर कै सेरोफेरोमा रहेको यो कूल घाटा कसले सकार्ने र डाएसपोराका नेपालीहरुको एकमात्र साझा संस्था एएनएलाई भडखालोबाट उकास्ने ॽ यसको जबाफ सिघ्रातीसिघ्र डाएसपोरा नेपालीहरुलाई चाहिएको छ ।

How do you feel when your prediction comes out true? Early on when we were doggin this organization for transparency, efficency, and something that makes sense, there were people who used to post their support calling us jealous and unpatriotic. Where are you now? I hope this will be the end of such meaningless gathering. If you still attend the next ANA, then you definitely have horns on your head.

What the heck!!!

So you wanna know who will still go there? I will. I never cared for their transparency, I go there to just have fun, play sports. I never took ANA as an organization to help Nepalese, almost every organization here are created for the personal vendetta that the founder has, nothing much. I have low expectations so I don't get disappointed.

If you think most of the people will stop coming because of this news then you're too naive. THey knew this already. And talk about your predictions, that was not much of a prediction, just stating a fact.

Feel free, nobody is stopping you. Corruption is one thing, supporting the cause even after knowing the fact is not just a crime, it's a sin.

Why are you guys fighting about this news? They are not taking money from you. Anyone who goes to ANA goes on their own free will and pays for events on their own free will.

ANA should have a process defined so that there is less chance of mistakes.

Corruption;;  के यो हाम्रो नस्लमै छ कि क्याहो ?

I went through the said report and it is quite mind boggling. As indicated in the report, there are clear signs of recklessness, lack of accountability and a very amateurish attitude towards the whole things on the part of the organization. From a simple business standpoint, I find that there was no projected income vs expenditures or even if it existed, it seems it was totally ignored. How could you be in the hole with $82k? Who was guiding the Conference even if there were a few persons who had accepted the responsibilities.

Let us say that we give the credit to the ANA by saying that the Convention was a success, in that ---all came, it was a good gathering and all had a good time, and there was no untoward incident. But is that how you measure a success of an organization that claims to be an umbrella organization of Nepalis diaspora in North America? You not just ran over a budget by a few dollars but you are way over your expenditures? It only shows the lack of competence of (planners and managers) the Convention Chair and of the entire ANA Board. One just cannot escape by shifting a blame to each other and by resigning from a post. The resignation of any individual Board Member MUST not be accepted until all of what the BCFIC findings are resolved and each one of them MUST be reprimanded and fired at the end. As recommended by BCFIC, they not only should be fired but disqualify them for a certain period of time to be associated with ANA in any responsible capacity the near future too.

That said, I also ask the BCFIC whether they paid any thought if the modus operandi was the same in the earlier conventions also. Without an iota of doubt, one can say that the operations of the Boston Convention were probably not very different from the earlier conventions. The only difference was that the Boston Convention happens to be in the red by $82k at the end. I say this because BCFIC report sheds light on the operations and mention about the modus operandi a few times. For example, the BCFIC report rightly mentions that there should have been an inventory of non expendable items purchased with the Boston Convention funds so that they could be used again in future Conventions. But the report fails to mention whether there was any inventory from earlier Conventions that was handed over to the Boston Convention. Can you tell us what non-expendable items were purchased in the last San Fransisco Convention that was handed over to the Boston and likewise the previous ones?

Will it be possible to put the expenditures and income report from earlier Conventions as well on the website? At the end, I find the Convention Chair and the entire Board to be exposing themselves to such an incompetence that it is shameful for all Nepalis. If there is no satisfactory response to the BCFIC report, it will be sad to see the demand coming for dissolution of ANA. In order for ANA to show that it is an umbrella organization for the diaspora in North America, it must tell the people as to what it does other than an single yearly event.

I give a full recognition that it takes a lot to organize such an event and many people had to put in a lot of their time. That is why you voluntarily become the office bearers. It is not just for the title only, one must work. However, if common business practices and general accounting practices were not followed in executing the event, what kind of message will it send to others??? Sheer incompetence or no accountability!!!

 

Very well put Mardshap and I agree fully. Responsibility comes with accountability. Mere resignation won't solve this problem, they should be held accountable. In the past conventions the general expenses had been in the range of 60 to 100k, how could they spend 160k?? This after learning from the past.
