My aunt is an RN practicing in the West Coast here in the States.

Just as a suggestion, if what you are trying to do is save money, one option is do your RN in Nepal and then take American State board test to transfer your license to America. This will be a lot cheaper.

In America there is Kaplan that prepares you towards the NCLEX test.

@Nepali Kanchoo.. if she finished her nursing in Nepal then she has to take he NCLEX exam and once you pass it then you are lookign at another 2-2.5 years or less depending on her classes that she has already finished!

 @KEBHANNURA, and NEPALI KANCHOO;
FYI, Let me share my experience here in points.
1. If s/he is not yet a RN in states than the scenario is not entirely different to those who already has for getting BSN degree (unless you are US green card holder or citizen). To begin, BSN course (University or college) first, one must apply and get admission. Later the university will request to provide course-by-course credit evaluation from certified company such as www.wes.org to verify US standard course requirement. In doing so, the task is not easy, so to speak. It will take time and money. Botton point, no matter your status or qualification, unless you provide that your undergraduate (BSN/BN study back in home) is equivalent to US standard you cannot "only" take BSN course and get done. University requires to  verify the candidate has US standard undergraduate course taken before they finally award you with BSN degree.
2. If you are BSN (Bachelor in Science-Nursing)  than the "pre-req" course you have to take here is States for completing BSN degree is far more less than those who have IN/BN (bachelor in Nursing or Intermediate in Nursing). Pre-req courses can be completed in community college or cheap four year college to save money. Courses that are mandatory can only be found out after talking to academic-advisor in the nursing school (varies for each university).
3. Whether you are RN here in States or not do not really have influence over the Pre-req courses. Moreover, if you are international then you must undergo the process, as long as I know it correctly. HOwever, if you plan to join BSN then getting RN license is somewhat crutial as you have to enroll for medical practice without which you cannot complete BSN.
Hope this helps. If  you have more question just shoot me an email. I will be more than happy to share my experience.

@Lutee-BAhun

Thank you for the suggestion! Are you also an RN that had to go through RN to BSN route? if so would you mind suggesting any affordable schools! My OPT has expired and I have to go back to school to keep in status!
