Where do you buy 24-carat gold in the US? Does anybody know? I'd appreciate if the suggestions didn't include "Indian jewellery stores".

In my place there is one store run by Chinese. They carry 24 carat gold and even give design for you as you want. Do not know about CA though.

 Thanks Mansoon. What about authenticity?

They are 100% reliable. One of my friend bought all the jewelleries from there for her marriage.

P.S. eat the mangoes, don't count the trees :)

"Chinatown!!!"

Might as well have said "Downtown!!!"

Thanks for your replies though. I'll ask around. Still feeling a tad edgy about authenticity though.

San Franciso has one of the largest chinatowns in the whole of United State and if you cant find 24k carat jewelry there then might as well not look for it. You know why people are mentioning Chinese and chinatowns because these people have better quality gold than the Indians. About authenticity, go into a jewelry store where they only deal with high quality stuff. But if that is still not good enough for you, take whatever you buy down to the pawn store and have them check it out. If it is not real, take it back to the store and exchange it for something else or get store credit. Jeez!

Early this year, I bought about 50 gms of 24 Carat Gold from chinese stores in Local Chinatown, Boston.
I am sure they are suthentic........ and i sold some of mine bought in Nepal (rather say exchanged).
But, by some reason/way............. some of the jewelry we bought in Nepal as 24 carat were tested as said to be of only 22 carats. They tested right infront of me.
I was speechless.

Thanks for the help, Violet. I'll look into more next weekend.

Kakakul, one of my buddies happens to be a jeweller in Kathmandu and he told me that nobody uses 'pure' 24-carat gold as it's near impossible to make jewelleries off 24-carat gold.

So I went to a Chinese jewellery store and all this guy had was jewelleries. I guess I wasn't clear enough in my initial post. I'm not looking for "gold ornaments". I'm looking to buy gold for investment purpose.

Anyone else?

 @riddle3,
The link you posted is 1 Troy ounce of .9167 fine gold (PURITY .9167 | 22 carat gold). What that mean is its not PURE (99.99%) 24Carat GOLD.

See all the items in this link  https://store.nwtmint.com/Bullion_Gold_Silver_Platinum_Palladium/Private_Label_Bullion/ (and over few pages). Gold bullions in this link is the pure 24 carat (99.99% pure). This is as pure as purity of gold gets (99.99%) (make sure you only buy pure bullion and not the decorative stuff) and is certified authenticated. They buy back too. I have known this online bullion store for a while and they have great service. If you intend to buy more than few oz than visit their bullion page and you will have free shipping and cheap price as well.

 @ riddle dude,
I wish you had just googled it. Anyway, Credit sussie bar is great and I personally like it too.

1 Ounce = 31.1034768 gram
1 TOLA = 11.66318125 gram
1 Ounce = 2.66666647 TOLA

Do the math.
