KATHMANDU, JUN 07 - Chairman of Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal, Kamal Thapa, has said that the current situation of the country is the right time for reviving the monarchy.
Speaking at the Reporter’s Club in the Capital on Thursday, Thapa remarked that the country has moved back to monarchy as all the decisions made by the Constituent Assembly have become invalid following the dissolution of the CA on May 27.
The first meeting of the CA held on May 28, 2008, declared Nepal as secular federal democratic republic, abolishing the 240-year-old monarchy.
He also said that deposed King Gyanendra Shah has been keenly watching the latest political developments and has been waiting for the aspirations of the people.
Saying that the country has moved back to the stage where it was prior to the CA election, he claimed that it has been proven that the country cannot keep up with the republican system.
Thapa ruled out the possibility of the revival of CA on any grounds—be it constitutional or political. He went to claim that nothing can be as irresponsible, undemocratic and anti-people as the revival of CA.
Thapa further said that the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML have been conspiring to impose authoritarianism in the country by spread a fear of authoritarianism in the name of democracy. He claimed that only restoration of constitutional monarchy and reinstatement of Hindu state can defeat authoritarianism.

King is the last hope and the only hope of saving Nepal now. Other hope is for Nepal to be taken over by India.

Each to his/her own. Everybody has the freedom to speak one's mind.
Having said that, it would be his pipe dream if Kamal Thapa thinks he can bring back monarchy. Gyanendra had his chance when the whole country was behind him when he took over. Then he scuttled that golden opportunity by being too stupid. Paras.... well he is a clown, nothing more.
From what I can see, monarchy, at this time, is untouchable, and not in a good way.

Bringing back ex king wont solve Nepal's problem. Only use of ex king I can see is when Nepal needs military rule.
Till now situation is not that bad. We lost time, we lost money. But that doesn not mean we should lose our hope in democratic system.
There are three ways of bringing back monarchy
1. Bringing back Monarchy with original heir from Prithibi Naryan Shah ( the lienage was broken at the time of Rana Bahadur Shah ( I think).
2. Putting Shruti's daughter in throne. ( I think ppl still have sympathy for lt. king Birendra)
Bringing back monarchy with either of above two option will demonstrate peoples power that is if ppl want they can throne and dethorne anybody.
Last option is
3. Bringing back ex king, I dont see this possibility happening easily. I dont have anyhting personal against ex king but he is not a Leader.
We all know that when a person is not a leader (S)He cant lead the country, We saw that in last 4 years.
I am looking for leader to emerge, not just another person

If Monarchy has to come back then i am okay with Shruti's daughter. But the need of a king is still not there. She will just be the name of queen. The queen shall be constitutional and the state should take care of her welfare not the otherway around. I know this is just hypothetical. In reality parties who ask for Monarchy do not even get 1% of the total vote so i do not see any chances for Monarchy unless Prachande decides to revive it.

Better to have the monarchy back rather than the present lot of blood sucking good for nothing vermin Dahal, Bhattarai, Makune, Sushil,KiRamchandre, etc. I have not supported the monarchy but the alternatives are far worse.

Kamal Thapa needs to gather his resources together to make it happen. It is possible, lets say some one like former army chief Katuwal and some leaders from congress and a ma le who deep inside support Monarch. But most importantly Gynendra himself need to make some wave.
All together, they can go to election and become a major party in Nepal without federalism and promote Pratriotism amonge us Nepelese people.
If NOT, we all people will be played by current parties (India ko chamcha) for long time and be cheated. Its now or never for Kamal Thapa for sure.
Jai Nepal!!!

Put Gyanendra aside, even Paras is way better than all these impotent so called leaders. It's the hightime for the revival of institution of monarchy. Now or never. All the Gyanendra haters should know he is the least responsible for current political mess. nonetheless, he was made scapegoat to take all the blame.
