Worldwide renowned travel advisory website--the tripadvisor.com - listed Kathmandu among its top 10 best places to visit in Asia in 2013, Xinhua news agency reported.

"Nepal's capital is surrounded by a valley full of historic sites, ancient temples, shrines and fascinating villages," the website said in its recent report of 25 top destinations in Asia to visit this year.

"Mingle with locals and animals amid Durbar Square's monuments, or join mountain trekkers in the bustling Thamel District. Explore shops for exquisite work by local artisans -- carpets and paper prints are specialities," it suggested.

While Siem Reap of Cambodia tops the chart, China's Beijing and Shanghai cities hold second and third best places to travel respectively.

Goa of India is in sixth place and Hong Kong city occupies the eighth position.

Other cities to make the list include Hanoi of Vietnam, Singapore, Chinese city Xi'an, Taipei and Seoul.
