The only thing I'm hoping out of this for us is that it will shorten the wait time for EB3s.

it is supposed to be the overhaul of the immigration system, which makes me hopeful for all people that are trying to immigrate. Although it usually seems to focus on illegal immigration.

"improvements to the legal immigration system, including giving green cards to high-skilled workers and lifting caps on legal immigration for the immediate family members of U.S. citizens."

I DO NOT SUPPORT CIR OR STEM Act.. Its totally B.S.

if you read 300 pages ( leaked CIR WH version)...there is NO STEM Act.... of course,.that it how suppose to  be..

If you look back to 30 years earlier, when all these Presidents say  "immigration Reform", it meant to all illegals who is working hard,

making minimum wage, and taking care of families.

NOW, all these BiG Tech Corporations giving money to all Politician they want the STEM Act. If not then No Immigration Reform..

Google, Microsoft,...and plenty of INDIAN Tech Company is spending so much money on it.

Why  H1B people giving hard time to those illegals who try to put some food on the table for their love ones?

I came in this country as a Student.  At that time, there was no STEM Act. I used current immigration laws to get a green card, job and

citizenship.  Now, WHY ALL THESE EDUCATED PEOPLE  ARE CRYING OUT LOUD..I DON'T GET IT. ..

Remember, H1B are making good money than illegals. Thats a good thing. Be happy. And stay away from Bad Karma.

Sexi in Sari,

Why do you mean that Stem Act is Bullshit?  If you get your GC via H1 does not mean that Stem Act is bullshit. Probably if you were laid off in H1, then you would better understand the value of Stem Act.

Besides, there are tremendous advantages to US economy in passing the Stem Act .

Maybe it doesn't have to be "either or". Maybe everybody trying to immigrate can benefit from this reform and the way I look at it, everybody wants to immigrate to America. There seems to be a legal way and an illegal way and I think it is also a bad karma to not take care of the people who followed rules and waited for years to immigrate before people who just didn't give a damn. The government only seems to pay attention where there is a "bang" and unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any "bang" on the side of the people who are trying to immigrate legally.

I work in the IT field and these days employers want to hire technology agnostic people. If you are waiting in line for a green card, then you'll probably be stuck in a company and technology for years which basically puts you in a box. I don't want to be that. So, I really hope there is something for us in this "reform".
