Hi. I am recent college graduate and i am going to join consultancy. I have some prior programming knowledge and in the field of web development. I have made up my mind about joining QA.
I have done some research and I have to decide between Selenium VS QTP.
All people in the field of QA and testing, please pour yout thoughts. It will be helpful for beginner like me.
So should I go with Selenium or QTP.
It seems like Selenium requires mid level knowledge of Java and QTP requires VBScript.
But QTP has decreasiing job market share and is easy to learn.

Go with Java, so go with Selenium (whatever the heck it is).
I am saying to go with Java because it is a rapidly expanding market.
All the big companies are moving towards Oracle environment.
I don't think VBScript is a choice of programming language for big companies.

As a recent college graduate, good to have knowledge on both. If you need to choose only one, go for QTP.

Well, it will be a while before Selenium overtakes QTP. QTP is still preferred. Selenium is getting some noise since it is open source and yes it is good . It really does not matter which you choose. once you learn one, you should be able to use others too. once you learn how to drive a car you are able to drive a Ferrari or a Toyota, can't you :) ?
However, in my humble opinion I think it will be better to learn QTP and Quality Center since lot of organization has it and it might be easier to find a job. Just a thought.
