Hi Friends,
I just moved to a new location on April 14th. I had this knowledge that I need to notify the school of address change; I just didn't remember there's a deadline of 10 days for it. I did update my address on the school system on 10th of May but I guess it was too late. What would happen now? I referred to a lots of online material and basically it says that this failure leads to loss of good status. Is it enough to just notify the school or do I have to fill up that AR-11 form for USCIS too? What other places do you need to inform of address change like banks etc? Do you think I should just tell my internation advisor that I stayed with a friend for 2 or 3 weeks in between thats missing?
Please share what you know on this..I'm feeling kinda nervous thinking such small carelessness can also lead to removal from the country or losing the status.
Sincerely,
Ryan

you were living in a temporary way for that period and that you were using the old mailing address as your main address and now you just moved permanently and now you can change your address whereever you've to ..the end.

looks like shouldn't be much big of a issue..so should i just be honest to the international advisor and say that i forgot or should i say i stayed at a friend's for some time..anybody else with similar experience? i know it sounds a small thing but i read it is actually a misdeamenour (sp?) crime..

You are worrying too much. Fire up an email to your advisor and say you have moved into a new apartment. The advisor will then update your address. You dont have to mention the gap. You may also be able to change it through your school self service portal if there are options. All in all send that email.

Ryan, also be sure to complete the USCIS Change of Address Notification form AR 11 and submit online - this way, your change of address process is up to date with USCIS as well. Here also, you do not have to mention anything other than entering your new address and other standatd details (A#, School Info, I 94 info etc.)
Good Luck

happyface, thank you i will do that..do you think if god willing i apply for citizenship later in life they will ask for this gap as in where i stayed or why i didn't report? im asking coz i know they have all the little details about us coz my brother was asked about a police case even when it was expunged..in his citizenship interview..i know im a little bit over concerned about these things but thats the way i am ...
