 Hello folks
Anyone planning to visit Canada around Oct/Nov for h1 stamping? We can work on the dates for the travel but it should be done asap. Also, driving/flying, either way is fine with me. Let me know and we'll go from there!!!

I haven't decided where to go yet. The interview dates are filling up so fast that making choices seem literally impossible. Having one paystub or two doesn't make a difference so as to speak. If you need two, ask your employer to run your paycheck bi-weekly at least for that month. The most imp docs are  your I 797 i.e. approval of your H1B and the employer and your end client letter. An Indian friend mine went with a single paystub and got it stamped last year. I was thinking of scheduling my interview date next week. Let me know if that works for ya. Thanks!!

DC is just an hour and a half drive for me so I probably will  go to  the Canadian embassy there and get my visa. They normally give it the same day or 2-3 business days at the most. Now, if you are planning to apply online then, do it sooner than later. It takes 3-4 weeks or even more. If you have made up your mind to appear for the interview around oct/nov, do let me know. Thanks !!

also, you might want to rethink about canadian visa. They will not issue you the visa right away. Check the website. They won't give you the visa in person. you either have to apply online or by mail. Either way it will take minimum of 3 weeks.

Thanks a lot. I checked and found out that the embassy doesn't entertain walk-ins anymore. I'm gunna apply it online and yes Calgary sounds good. Do I mail my passport if I apply online?

Guys, my passport will expire in 2015. So will they give me visa only until 2015 in that case? Do i need to renew my passport now?

DATKTMGUY: you apply online and later they will ask you to send the passport. or you can mail them. They are prety good at handling documents. Just make sure to put the return envelope/

manchi: mine expires at 14 but they gave me visa until 2015.
