I am trying to figure out what really Nepal is! Is it a mass of land? Is it rivers and mountains? Is it mass of people who are born in that land? Is it combination of all these? Or something else? When I say, 'Nepal Jindavaad' what do I really mean? What is Nepal? All ideas welcome. This is a thread intended to understand Nepal in more deeper level.

Gorukobuda, Can you call your mother the same thing? Just wondering and I am sure you have read this sentence in your elementary school, "Mother Nepal". Whoever your mother is I have respect for her even though her son is such a douchebag. I wish you won't have to learn about "Monther Nepal" in hard way even though you deserve to be. Karma will follow you!

Nepal is landlocked country between two most known countries in the world, China and India. She is compared with Switzerland in natural beauty but unfortunately higher rate of population growth, political instability, landlocked, foreign dependence on resources, brain drain, corrupt politicians made country 200 years back than any western country and some of the Asian countries. However, our intact family social and ethical great practices are examples to western free society.

dindukhi, would you mind giving some examples of 'great ethical practices' so that we can understand the cultural perspective of Nepal.

Ujl,
In my opionion great ethical practices could be:
- We still respect people based on their age and relation.
- We have curiosity to take care of people who come in our home.
- We tend to pay guest bills if we invite to eat/travel.

Above are not by the law but are ethical.

dindukhi, I especially liked your 2nd one. It's a great culture that we Nepalese have. When someone come in our house, we immediately ask if they like to have a cup of tea! That's a very humble culture. However, I don't know if this culture is still in practice these days. Too much of globalization has doomed Nepalese youth. I think culture plays an important role in shaping any society. Good culture will eventually bring a good and powerful nation.
