Hi, Has anyone gone to Canada to get their H1B and H4 visa stamping? We have never had a H1B visa stamped on our passport, and we were both on F1 visa before. Please share your experience.

Mero sathi haru nepal ma adkeka sabai full time kam garne hun. Consultancy ma kam garne koi pani adkeko chhaina ( Kinaki visa nalagne darale kohi gakai chhaina :P). Case 1: full time kam garne, IT field, uniharuko office aruko lagi kam garne IT company thyo (sabai jaso tyastai nai hunchhan, like our software company works for different banks in US ). so tero client true client hoina bhanera diyena bhanne halla thyo, but bujhdai jada PIMS update nabhako raichha, 2 maina jhulayera pachhi visa diyo. Case 2 : Keta IT full time, keti IT consultancy, Nepal gayera biha gare, combined try gare holan H1B, details ta thaha chhiana, but visa lagena, almost 8-9 months nepal nai basey, ani lagena rey, khandani UK basi raichhan, UK tira lage. malai thaha bhako yati nai ho. But dherai ko nepal gayera sajilai visa lageko ni suniyeko chha, sajha kai aru thread haru ma. So B positive, PIMS update bhako nabhako yahi bata bujhna milne bhaye bujhera jane, bhako chhaina bhane update garna k pahal garna sakinchha garera jane. Be positive. All the BEST :D

Safe bet is going to Kathmandu for visa stamping. I went to Nepal in November and got my visa stamped with no problems and lemme tell you I work for a desi company with two vendors in between before the client. We were five H1B applicants that day and all of us got the visa. I don't understand why people are so skeptical about going for stamping. Firstly, if you have all the documents and your H1B is genuine (yes, there are cases of fraudulent H1Bs ) and your company is not one of those "cut corners" and tax evading" types, you don't need to worry. If your H1B approval is less than 6 months, then it may take a week or two or even a month for PMIS verification but you should be good. I was initially planning for stamping in Canada, then later changed my mind cuz even if I'm stuck for some reason, I won't be freezing my a** up in some hotel at Toronto. I would rather enjoy my time with my family. Be confident and act wise. Even if you're denied, it's not the end of the world.

Wavernepal: I also heard its not good idea to go Nepal for H1B visa stamping.coz I have seen most of my IT frens who got job thru consultancy either went to Canada for stamping or hadnt stamped at all.You know nowdays when u go to some Nepalese bday party there are one group of people who sit on the corner and talk about their IT jobs and about visa stamping.I don't think its worth to take that risk.

Has anyone sent a copy of I-797 and requested PMIS verification prior to appearing for the interview in Kathmandu, or anywhere else?

Thank you tesko_baje for elaborating so nicely about your friends' case. It helped me a lot to figure out the scenario. I already got a ticket so will fly anyway to home. Also thank you datktmguy for boosting me up as always.

@Ushakya0823: I am trying to schedule my visa interview during first week of April; most preferably April 2 or 3. I am an applied science major, working as a chemist in a brewery. I have been working in the same company for like 3 years but recently got my h1b approved last October with a very small company of 13 employees. Haven't been home for like 6 years. Visa expired. I will fly end of march via Singapore airlines. Little scared with 221 g (TAL) but will take a risk. That's it. I hope everything will turn out to be good in kathmandu. Good luck with you too.
