Some airports do ask you if you are carrying more than 10k in Cash.....Few years ago, a Korean Guy in front of us had lied, but the sniffing dog got him. He was carrying less than 10k, but told the USCIS Officer 500 USD....when he was in fact carrying 7800 in cash........he was let go, but more than 10k is a risk if the airport you are traveling through has similar security measures for international flights.....If you are traveling with a partner or a friend....its always safe to split the amount so each of u have less than 10k each......

The dog is not gona sniff out the extra 5k if your carrying 15k. haha! I would suggest not carrying more than 20k tho. Put it separately inside of envelopes. You willbe fine. Relax and enjoy the trip.

If you put a lot of cash inside envelop or anywhere in carry on, it will become visible. So put in your two front pant pockets.

Bittertruth, why want to go through all that and not even sure that is the easy process (meaning travelling with fear) ? i would recommend just do the Wire transfer, it is easy convenience and more importantly peace of mind :), enjoy the flight with beer or Wine or Hard Drink whatever floats your boat

It's a while ago : not much people travelling and did not have much facility to transfer money. I could not say no and I was ended with 19K cash. Now I do not have to do that. As yeap said: I will enjoy the flight and will choose a worry free travel.
