Hello Friends - As my parents are aging (66 yrs. old), I realized I need to start working on a plan to bring them over at USA (California) permanently by sponsoring them. If you’ve gone through similar experience, could you kindly share some insightful tips to make this logistically possible - insurance, budgeting, living spaces, etc? So far, resolving the insurance situation seems to be the biggest challenge since they won’t be eligible for government insurance until they are here for 5 years and i’ve read private insurances such as Aetna, Blueshield won’t provide insurance to 65+. Any tips, guidance, experience you could share will be much appreciated. Dhanyabad hai.

Hello craigliststudent First of all, I would like to appreciate your willingness to bring your parents to the US. It shows your love for them and your wish to be together as a family. But on a second note are you bringing them to the US bcoz they desire so? As you said they are 66 yrs of age, they would like to spend the rest of their lives in Nepal where they feel comfortable. Once you bring them to the US and they start missing their Nepalese lifestyle it is going to be a very difficult situation. Health insurance issues can be managed but maintaining their mental hygiene is more important. Please think about it.
