What is the current situation like for getting a visa renewal appointment at the US embassy in Nepal? Any idea on the earliest available dates? My F1 visa expired at the start of the pandemic and therefore haven't been able to renew. I have a conference coming up that requires me travel outside of the States, so I am hoping to renew the visa if possible. Any idea on other options as far as countries go that could be an alternative to get the visa renewed, anybody here has any recent/past experience or know how? Any advice would be of great help.

My assistant working in lab did in mexico last year .it was pretty straightforward and interview slots always avilable . You dont need a mexico Visa if you have valid usa visa paper. Our staffs have$ 2000 cme allowance/year that we can spend it on seminars/ training etc .he used it to a conference in mexico and had his visa stamped , but he was a first time h1 stamping not f1 . I have no idea about nepal
