There are communities living in NH that do this. Caveat is that often the person needing care has a severe physical or mental handicap; and needs lots of assistance. You have to house them and take care of their every need.

I had an opportunity to talk to a person who was working this job like 10 years back. What Maxpayne said is correct, you have to live together with people with special needs. This job is very challenging for "a sane person" who wants to involve in a lot other exciting things in regular life. As per my conversation with that person, you are living together with some mentally or physically disabled person 24 hours. I remember him giving me an instance when someday the person you are taking care of is laughing whole day and you will also be laughing whole day along with and some other days, he or she is crying whole day and then you can imagine the state of the caretaker's mind. You can become like a disabled person yourself, this was his inference. It is challenging and yet frustrating too, but for some $10 K a month (higher than any software engineer I believe) is good enough to make sacrifices in life and people have been doing that too.
What Ujl said above is not correct as per my understanding. "Nobody lives in New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine. Most Nepali live in Boston area."
I have met Nepalese who are residing in all these three areas. It may not be like huge communities but there are Nepalese there too as well.

@Ujl,"Nobody lives in New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine. Most Nepali live in Boston area."
Nobody = very few people, okay now I got it, thank you.
Just a heads up, the figurative interpretation in the sentence you started with is not making sense, that's all. To us all most probably, it sounds like literally, there is no Nepalese in New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine. We do not know if you are hinting at the conflict in that sentence or you are stating some fact. Your intention is quite esoteric, dear.

There are quite a number of nepalese family lives in NH. And as u said most family atleast look for keeping at least one mental or disabled ppl. I believe they call them client. There is no state tax in NH and houses are not that expensive although I heard property tax is high. But if u r getting 10k per month u can easily afford a moderate house. The only problem is someone needs to be 24 hour around with their client. One time I saw a guy taking his client to restroom together in a party. If u feel happy abt it and don't mind taking care of such patient then u r OK. But imagine if ur whole family wants to go to vacation for few weeks or to nepal, then ur life is screwed.

Ati: your word PAGAL is extreme and derogatory. You were to fast to open your mouth and looking other down on what they are doing. After reading this thread I looked up the history of handicapped, slow learner, disable person and it is devastating. They were kept in Laconia treatment center, behavior is the only thing they know to get attention, who had learn to bit other, their teeth were taken out overdosed with chemicals. That hospital was closed over 50 years ago and those patient were introduced and rehabilitated into community. People need to take care of them and Nepalese are fulfilling it. Why it is an issue? Why judging people, there is always division of labor and what ever they want and do is their personal choice. Stop looking down on other , Fuck yourself.

Bro if you live in USA please use the right word instead of pagal, back home we did not hear any other word than Pagal. It is derogatory and you used for me too. One day some of those Nepali will take care of you as a their client as a biggest pagal from Sajha. Did I I say anything about you or you dreamed about me with certain that should not be happening ? I think you are one of the character on that thread " bhinaajiko suruwlaal mutne"

@robwinA sweet 10 K a month feels much better than 6 K or 8 K that most "average" software engineers make in a month, isn't it? Now of course, 10 K will ask you to do some dirty jobs like taking the sick/ deranged/ mentally retarded/ etc. clients to bathroom together and use your own hands to wipe their behinds or touch their genitals. That is why there is so much money there. A registered nurse also does all these stuffs right? And they are also making big bucks as we all know. But yeah, they would not live together with the sick person at homes, unless if they are some home care agents, I guess. I talked to a nurse one time asking this kind of question if she feels disgusted to see human blood, poop, pee, pus, all yucky stuffs. She said she feels nothing as we all are made up of these things. I think the secret lies in desensitizing oneself to all the yucky things in life that we all do or have. Then 10 K feels so sweet!
