Daily Chatpat
Today's Chatpat: September 25th, 2023
1. According to media reports, Nepal needs over 30,000 doctors but only 20,000 are working. In terms of medical workers such as nurses and technicians, the country has a shortage of around 64,000. Many young doctors, mostly who have completed their MBBS now prefer to go to foreign lands for better opportunities. Even nurses are now moving abroad for better job opportunities.
2. The mysterious court case of Sandeep Lamicchane, our national team cricketer has baffled everyone. So far, there have been 29 court hearings regarding the rape of the minor case in 11 months but Sandeep seems to get free waiver to travel and play overseas while the court continues to postpone the hearing. The final verdict was supposed to be hand down a week ago.
3. Scientists are now warning us that we may have have the next pandemic on the way and it could be much worse than Covid. The WHO has dubbed the disease - 'X' and says it could hit any time even though they further elaborate that it is a probability rather than a possibility. Now, either we have to mask up again and maintain rigorous social distancing like say, 60 meters away from another person or open the dictionary and figure out which comes first, possibility or probability.
4. According to CNN, more women are choosing to be kids-free. Well, it's one's choice not to have kids but with more aging population and fewer babies on the way, the Western and other developed countries are already feeling the effect of population decline. So, don't be surprised if you see 90% of the workforce in these countries coming from Asia, Africa and Latin American countries by 2070! No wonder, Elon musk wants to make more babies and already has ten. One more to go and then, he will have a football team ready to represent USA, Canada and South Africa at the same time someday!
5. Our aviation authority which goes by the name CAAN but CAN'T do much when it comes to improving aviation safety or better infrastructure in rural areas is planning to revoke the flight permit of Korean Air because the Koreans do not want Nepal Airlines to fly to South Korea. Well, we can't blame the Koreans because our national carrier operates more like a micro-bus and the flights are postponed regularly due to lack of maintenance and what not.
