there is war going everywhere in nepal, but in the mean time www.partynepal.com is doing events and parties a lot, its not safe to go out in the night. i don't know why they are doing parties and encouriging people to come out in the night time. they should stop it.

People in Kathmandu know very well what's going on around them. Let them have good time. Don't try to kill their fun. They have already suffered enough. Don't complain about their parties while you are having fun sipping your martini in the US. There is no need to stop parties. Kathmandu will be a ghost town if they take the party scene out. There are thousands of tourists who also attend these parties and have good time. So don't ever come up with these stupid ideas of party scene in Kathmandu.

well there should be a balance in the country, then only think of these parties. the rest of the country is dying and young people of of kathmandu are enjoying partying and partynepal is more and more prmoting parties rathen then giving any serious thughts f the country situation.

a depressed person , society, crowd can not be productive in any scenerio... I think Nepali people should have more fun and try to forget the pain... just being depressed and cranky everyday is not going to do any good....Life's short, top of that you won't be younge for a long time, so why do brothers and sis from Nepal should hold back and waste thier good years of the life..... People who blame them , i wonder what makes them feel it's okay for them to go to bars and drool on white girls while she rubs her back on her fat boy; or go to Nepali gatherings and show thier pot belly and and party while they get irretated to some Nepali having fun in Nepal.. hey people. i dont know if this is a late response to an almost dead topic, but then i just came across it and i strongly felt i had to say something about it.

you guys blabber about whether we nepalis should party or not while the country is going through such a turmoil... but more importantly, ask yourselves, should you nepalis be blabbering about the situation back home when you chose to leave your country and run off to seek opportunity and better lifestyle in the us? why don't u guys really contribute and come back to serve ur nation? will you do that? nope, u won't. 90% of you are not in nepal at the moment... what would you guys know what it is like to live in nepal... clueless is the right word for u.

if we stop partying, will we have a better country? will all our problems be solved? will there be no violence any more? i don't think so...

are we forcing people to party? are we going around people's houses saying "oh you visited partynepal last night, so u must come to our party next friday or else u will be fined?".... we nepalis have a mind of our own, and we can think for ourselves... no one's forcing anyone to party, its the choice people make in their own freewill.

after reading what mr. chabrun posted here, i wouldn't be surprised if someday someone comes up and says "since nepal is not going through a particularly good time, lets stop all forms of entertainment including jainepal cinema, nepal television, and radio nepal".

by the way chabrung, isn't kantipur the same newspaper that reported that mr. ruchendra (or rashendra) bhattarai is the richest nepali in the world and he landed in nepal in his private 737 boeing?? didn't it also state that he owns a 700 room hotel in bali?

the fact was mr bhattarai could barely manage to pay his bill at the presidential suite in soltee crown plaza.

I live in the US, and find the website pretty amusing. Atleast you see some happy people there in midst of all the problems. One thing I find hard to understand , are the comments under all the pictures..very dumb !! maybe someone could do little better.

you don't know the situation in nepal. so just keep your opinion to yourself. it is not safe to go out at night, we all know that. however, we take extra precaution and make sure we choose the right place to go. take taxi or get a ride from our friend. don't walk around in ghettos. also we go to places where we feel comfortable and try to stay away from parties where crowm prince and all those high class people go.

the country is a mess, but we just have to learn to live with it. one just needs to be extra careful.

and are you trying to say that.. it is safe in the US cities? i have heard people getting shot in big cities like NY, boston, atlanta, LA, chicago, etc (source: fox news and cnn). i don't think it is any safer in the US cities. KTM is a big city, so one just needs to be extra careful just like in anywhere else.

Besides Mr. Chabrung, everyone posting on this thread have been supportive of party scene in Nepal thereby support partynepal for promoting the party scene. IMO it is very important to have a good party scene for a healthy growth of young generation of people. Party scene gives support to music scene thereby introducing different genre of music to the mass. Music is a very positive vibe and thereby brings people together. Party brings boys and girls together, gives a chance to know each other better, provides oppurtunity to meet their life partner. If we wait for the war to be over and start somthing, it will be too late. It will leave behind a generation of depressed crowd who are most likely to be addicted to drugs or alchohol. So partyon people. It is a very positive way of living life and hoping for a better future.

Frustrated with violence, the youth in the 60?s started their mission for peace. And, hence gave history it?s ?Flower? period. In just about the same way the youth of Nepal need a release from the constant spurts of violence, bandhs and strikes. This frustration gave birth to Project: Peace in 2003 and the language it speaks is music.
The first Project: Peace was organised by PartyNepal.com and Funky Buddha Bar in association with Thamel Tourism Board in 2003. With a turnout of about 40,000 and international media coverage, it was a grand success.

On November 27, from 2-10 pm, Thamel will come alive again with Project: Peace 2004. With our own DJ?s (DJital, DJ Nissan, DJ Zion, DJ Sick Freak, DJ Bhatte, DJ Mahesh, DJ FB Sequence, Aseem and Salil) and more from India (DJ Ankit currently resident DJ at Galaxy, Everest Hotel) and the UK (DJ Bee and DJ Chloe?s Husband) spinning their musical magic. This massive open-air multi genre party is aimed at the promotion of peace, love and harmony. All through music!

Thamel will be divided into two party zones, with R?n?B, Hip Hop, Disco, Pop and commercial music being played in Zone 1. Trance, Techno and House will rule in Zone 2.
The rest of Thamel will host stalls of different restaurants and bars. Through this event the organisers intend to express their will for peace using music as their spokesperson. For music crosses all boundaries.

Project: Peace 2004 is once again being jointly organised by PartyNepal.com and Funky Buddha Bar and Caf? in association with Thamel Tourism Board. The British Council, Wave, Metro, McDowell?s and Tuborg will support the event.

we organized project peace last year as well, and last year it was massively successful. with the hype that we are creating this year not just in the local media, but also internationally, and with two Ministry of Sound DJs playing along with nepal's bests, this year is going to be bigger.

the project peace may be as popular as the love parade... someday.

There is music and there are musicians. There are the rockers and there are the spinners. Spinning music or the art of the turntable has surely come a long way. Or so it seems when one attends a programme by the dazzling duo DJ Bee and DJ Chloe?s Husband. Bee and Husband are running one of the most successful club nights, Rehab, in Bangkok since 2001. After rocking the best turntable venues including Ministry of Sound in London and Limelight in New York, they are here to rock the people Kathmandu. In a candid interview, the British pair, now based in Bangkok and managed by Chloe, the Husband?s wife, elaborate on their musical journey.

You are here for the first time and have an opportunity to rock Kathmandu. Any fascination for the place?

Bee, Husband: Well, the fascination does exist. This is for the first time we have been here but surely it won?t be for the last time. DJing here will be full of extraordinary moments for both of us.

You have been playing together for the last three years and seem to be fond of tours. How did you get together?

Bee: We met in Bangkok three years ago. As our DJing style and musical tastes matched, we decided to rock the clubs together and it?s great fun indeed.

Husband, you have been involved in the heady world of dance music for the last 15 years. Tell us about your background.

Husband: I am basically from London and I was into the music scene since my college days. During those days, a lot of bands used to come to our college to play and influenced us a great deal.

Tell us the secret of your intriguing name.

Husband: My name is David, David Coker. While in the club we thought of adopting a disguised name just for the heck of it. After all, names and stuff go with DJing, it?s like a jacket you put on. That?s when everybody started calling me Chloe?s husband. I thought what about Chloe?s husband being my name and snap, it stuck. These days, I?ve even begun to like it, really!

How did you make it big?

Husband: I hit off with my band ? Wubble-U ? scoring a dance chart top five and UK national chart top fifty with the progressive house anthem ?Petal? in 1995 (Go! Discs). My club remix work has since benefited such artists as Bryan Ferry, All Saints, the Cardigans and Madness. I pioneered live music/ DJ format that led to a monthly residency at London?s Fabric and performances at The End, the Ministry of Sound and Glastonbury and international shows during the late 90s.

Any special style?

Husband: We love mixing all kinds of music together. We don?t stick to one kind of music. We usually do global music and there is no hard and fast rule for us what to play. We play eclectic music. (Bee smiles)

Bee, tell us something about your past.

Bee: Well, my rendezvous with music has been instinctive really. I am from a small town near London. Later I moved to London and spent most of my teenage years there. I worked with several bands in the UK including the Charles Manson infatuated ?Getting the Fear? and psychic TV. I subsequently moved to New York and worked in the Limelight at ?Party Monster? and Michael Alig?s Disco 2000. (Bee?s next stop has been Bangkok which he rocked for seven years with his own Radio Show. He is also co-credited for brining in alternative music to Thailand.) This would be a wonderful chance to spin the discs here in Kathmandu. We certainly would love to rock the crowd.

What?s your take on DJing?

Bee: DJ-ing has come a long way. Many have tried to put in some innovation in the art of spinning and scratching. But the most important thing about DJ-ing is that one should be into it completely. Yes, some really do pretty well with there acrobatic shows while looping and scratching but I believe that breaks the flow.

Husband: There is no doubt that one should learn the basic techniques. These days, schools, too, are emerging. But with that, one should have a complete understanding of music.

Is there anything particular that you start with?

Both: It all depends on the mood of the crowd. We have to be a good observer as well to be a good DJ. We have listened to a couple of Nepali traditional songs and we certainly will love to create a fusion of Nepali and British music. We hope that we could meet some local DJs over here and we are pretty excited about that.
