For information, go to http://uscis.gov/graphics/services/natz/index.htm. You need to fill out N-400 following the exact instruction. It is quite simple actually. Do it yourself.

I applied in February and got it in June. However, the wait time varies slightly depending upon where you live/apply. You can find out the processing dates here: https://egov.immigration.gov/cris/jsps/ptimes.jsp;jsessionid=akatueS_Woi4. Check out district office processing dates for N-400.

Hope it helps.

From my experience, it takes exactly a year for the entire process. just make sure to fill up ur application correctly and gather all the documents u need . Once u send N400 form to INS , it takes bout 2 months to get finger prints done and after that it takes another 8-10 to get an interview and swear in. However, waiting time varies from state to state.
Good luck !

from my expirence getting a citizenship takes about a month. first you go to that office and file up the application and then go back there again to pick it up. make sure you put enough weight on your envolope and be really nice to the officers - like they're doing a big favor.... i think the office is behind singa durbar and make sure you put 2 elephant -notes in the envolope. Rhinos are weighty too but not as much as elephants.
what else was your question?? let me scorll up....

oh shit.. didn't realize that you guys were talking about U.S citizenship.. jeese and i preached about my expirence about getting Nepali citizenship.. la la mula haru moj gara.. my best wishes to all you don't-want-to-be-Nepali and dying-to-be-americans....

maybe we can meet up on some ANA function and talk about developing Nepal or soemthing... take care
