hey guys what kinda music do u think is better, Rock or Hip Hop. Just give your opinions about it.

I listen to little bit of everything, although Rock is there 85%of the time. It depends on the situation also, and ofcourse the artist. There are very "few" Rock artists that suck, and very "few" hip hop artists that are good. In fact, I can only name 3 or 4 hip hop artists that are really good and I love them, like Snoop, 50 cent, Tupac, Dr Dre...thats it.
If I'm with a brothar I don't mind listenning to hip hop, with a redneck wouldn't mind country...and so on. But no techno,,,Hell No...thats total Euro Trash,,,no creativity whatsoever.

Can anyone tell me..how long has HIP HOP been into the mainstream music industry, but I bet it hasn't been more than 20 years,on the filpside ROCK has been there for more than 40 years , so its intuitive that Rock gains more popularity than RAP. Bands like led Zeplin and Iron Maiden has been into the rock mainframe for more 20 years and still rock.
But, nevertheless one should't diss a genre of music just coz he hates it....

These are two genres of music and hence should not be subjected to comparision, and if they are, then shouldn't yield any outcome.

It depends upon your taste bud.

Rock fans might make fun of Hip hop culture and Hip Hop fans will then make fun of Long Hair era.

To me, anything done with a good amount of talent and dedication will result in excellence. Rock has been around for a while. The new rock bands are most of the time heavily inspired by Led Zepp, Pink Floyd et all. You can even make a point that it is a "perfected" genre of music and lots of studies have gone into this.

Hip-hop, contrary to popular music also has been around for a while (late 60s to early 70's). In recent years the genre has gone main stream but underground hip-hop music was always present. Sugar-hill Gang, Russel Simmon, Run DMC and Hip-hop Grandfather Afrika Bambaata had already started the craze in the streets of LA and NYC.

For me, the only derivation of Rock that I listen to now, is Alternate music. Hip hop is fresh and hard core hip-hoppers like Naz, 2pac, (and even few other street/underground hip hoppers of Bronx, Brooklyn) are fun to give ears to.

err..i can't stand rock. I never liked it. But hip hop def. Thats what i listen all the time. in my car, my home, wherever i go.
pac, biggie, xzibhit, eminem, mobb deep, jadakiss, nas..list goes on.

Growing up it all was all abt Rock for me. But for the last 5 years or so I have also been deeply involved with hip hop music.

First, of all..RIGHT now I hardly see any PURE rock bands..most of them are pop/rock or fusion..its really getting boring. Back in the 90s when there were like tons of Alternative/rock/metal bands..then it was all good...Now, every freaking band has fusion. I liked Linkin park when they first came out but their second album sounded identical to their first ones...geez...Samething with Nickelback..although I like some of their songs... Talking abt St.Anger...its never really reached that hype, mostly becuase people these are so used to listening to hybrid music...

I like hip hop but I usually get sick of bling bling and bragging. Sometimes , you just wonder..do all rap artists have any new material..I really get sick of it!! Likes of tupac who had depth to their art will survive forever and others will disappear like Vanilla Ice...

Anyway, I pretty much listen to everything..from soul ...rock, grunge....to hip hop..

Abt rap& rock..I see it this way....Rap is more like natural expression..and Rock represents more of musical aspect..nonetheless both are form of art and...on a given day I would listen to anything...

* Also, if I was to go to a concert, I would go to a rock concert...and if I had to move in the club..I would choose hip hop.....:)..

Used to listen to rock all the time. All time favorites: Pink Floyd, Queen, Deep purple, Dire Straits.... list is long!

Until the kids I teach came in singing: "Get your eagle on...! Get your Freak on....!", "bling bling this, bling bling that!" Had to expand my own vocab to know what those kids were listening to... so started listening to Rap!!!!!!!
A lot of wit, talent, music mixes, there.... but songs not singable for kindergartners! I told them to stick to Barney Songs or........!!!

Two different genres of music incomparable.
Maybe one can compare Usher with Ludacris... (lord knows how to spell those exotic names!) and Deep Purple with White Snake?!

damn, this is the worst topic ever... how can ya'll be acting like buncha kids.... different ppl like differnt genre of music.... god, this is kinda freaky.. i had this same talk with my boi when i was driving with him, and he brough it up.. he is black and he been telling me why do i prefer listening to more rock songs.... but at that time, we both were kinda woooo hoooo.. so i felt like talking and i dont even know what i really said.. but i said alot of good things about how music play a vital role in ppl life, and it all depends upon where you grow up and what kinda mood you in.... i cant even recall what i really said... but after that, my boi didnt say shit about rock and its chill.....

As so many before me have already said, let there be no boundaries in MUSIC .Talkin' abt Hip-Hop and Rock , it doesn't mean we necessarily hate Oranges if we say we like Apples !
