Going to Nepal this summer to get married.
I am in F-1 status doing my PHD and have assistantship. How should I do to get F-2 visa for my future wife? what are chances? Can I get I-20 for F-2 even before I get married? Help me out. Otherwise I have find a gal here.

If you are doing PHD then you shouldnt be worried about getting F2 visa. But you have to show the documents that she is Really YOUR WIFE. I dont think, she will get F2 visa without getting married.

i went thru the exact same situation on december. my school gave me I20 for her before we got married, i took it with me when i went back. in american embassy you just need to show your marriage certificate, and you will be all set. it is very easy.

How about if you have not decided and have to choose the gal once you get to ktm.

i think wife's name is needed to make the I-20.

Of course, we shold know name and date of birth. But the problem you never see your future physically before you get in nepal. Though, this is not weired. We can see pic and talk over phone beforehand. Some time parents look more cool gal.

Hancyguy, You shouldn't worry about it as long as you are a full-time student and have assistantship. Being a phd student is another benefit.

As long as I know you should show some sort of relationship-paper and enough fund to support your wife before I-20 is issued. I don't know how buzz got it.

Instead of wasting time listening to so many people, I suggest you to go and talk to people at International Center.
