I am so damn sick and tired of goddamn illegal immigrants coming to America in droves like it's their goddamn god-given right. Furthermore, what ticks me off is that these goddamn Mexicans and other hispanic groups haven't even assimilated in this country. They keep speaking their native tongue, and refuse to learn English. They wave Mexican flags, and feel that certain American states(like California) always belonged to Mexico. I have a big problem with that sort of logic. Furthermore, 30% of criminals in jail are ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS. There is not a snowball's chance in hell that I will support illegal immigration of any sort, whether they be Nepalis or Mexicans. I myself did it the hard way. Let me say that it took me more than 15 years to get my hands on the highly coveted green card. 15 FUKING YEARS. You expect me to support illegal immigrants who just hop the borders or overstay their visas and refuse to do it the LEGAL WAY? No way am I supporting this sh1t. Plus the fact is that they steal jobs that belong to Americans. Millions of Americans are unemployed, and not all of them are lazy, as some people seem to imply. Corporations are complicit in this as well, and they are equally to blame. Erecting a wall is not enough. Sure, illegal immigration will subside to a degree for a while, butthey will surely find a different way. If they can't come by land, they will just swim or do it some other way(god know how). So the best bet is to use the Military to guard the borders.Things are so bad that in some American cities, it is hard to get a job unless you are fluent in Spanish. This country was founded on ANGLO-SAXON, JUDEO-CHRISTIAN ideals, and it should stay that way. I also have a huge problem with H1B visa holders(many Nepalis), who get pregnant here. These babies are anchor babies as far as I am concerned. These people are just using their children to stay here, and I cannot support something of that nature. Furthermore, the reason corporations hire these people is because they are CHEAP and work for less money. Studies have been done regarding this as well. Sure, they make more than illegal Mexicans, but they make less than Americans. This is another way corporations have managed to cut their expenses.
5.1% Americans of working age who are unemployed. More than 20 million Americans living in poverty. Billions of dollars down the tubes just to support illegal immigrants. Most illegal immigrants don't pay taxes, since they get paid under the table. They are a liability to America. Plus, who picks up the tab if they get sick? UNCLE SAM of course.

I don't wanna deal with illegal immigrants. I hope I don't come across one in real life(don't care if these illegals are Nepalis or not), coz I will report them for sure.

What gets my pants in a wad is that they come here and claim that gringos should be the ones who should pack their bags and leave. Give me a break. America leads the world, and it should stick that way. Rome fell because of invasion. Let's all remember that.

I don't care what anybody here says. I do not support illegal immigration. I do not support work visa(H1B or whatever it's called) as well. The first thing America needs to do is fix the 14th amendment loophole. Only children born of American citizens or green card holders should become American citizens. Being born on American soil should not automatically make you an American. That's just wrong. Children born of illegal immigrants or H1B visa holders should not automatically become Americans. This loophole has been abused way too many times. There is gonna be a huge demographic shift otherwise, and it ain't gonna be pretty. Little Mexicos, little cuba--these are some communities that are sprouting like wild mushrooms. Pack your bags and leave this country, illegals, you are a strain to America.

the demography of america have changed significantly and will keep changing in the future regardless of illegals being granted legal status. the majority will soon become the minority. that is a fact. no matter how hard people like thugged out tries they can't be white in fact they are a significant contributor to the horrors of xenophobic majority race.

i have been following immigration reform bill progress and i am very certain that there is going to be a significant decision that will be in favor of illegal immigrants.

Speaking of this US Senate Bill by SenatorSpector, the house republican leader, John A. Boehner and house speaker hastelet, are said to support the guest worker provision, as long there is tought enforcement added to the bill.

This article is clearly telling you that the tide has shifted, and the consensus is, that the comprehensive approach is now the leading approach, instead of the enforcement-only bill.
Right now number is the only thing that count and the numbers are in the side of the comprehensive immigration group.

As you all know by now, there is no resistance in the senate, critics says that McCain/Kennedy backed Specter bill should pass the senate with strong bi -partisan vote..meaning half the senate's republicans will break party line and support democrats which will support the bill 100% whyle republican will join them at a 75% efficiency..

House minority, Pelosi stated yesterday during an interview that the democrats are aligned toward the comprehensive immigration bill and that sensenbrenner enforcement-only will not pass because it does not have strong support with the exception of the Tancredo's camp.

Tancredo was on c-span yesterday and when the reporter asked him to comment on house's leader saying that he will consider the guest worker program, Tancredo appeared very distressed and he said that he hope that he only consider it and nothing more. Then the reporter asked him whether he was sure that the house would not do any negotiation with a bill that has guest worker program, and he added that he wasnt sure because he's only one members.

This clearly shows that he's not too certain anymore whether there are enought votes that block the guest worker program inside the house.

I wished the reporter had ask him about some members in his own party defecting his ideology and are now supporting comprehensive immigration bill.

You could see the frustration in Tancredo's face, he looks like a defeated KKK biggot like some wannabe Americans in this thread.

One thing that must be said is that the president has also stated that he will attend those meetings and that he will not let anyone leave untill everyone agrees to bring the comprehensive bill to his desk.

Also.once this bill enters negotiation between house and senate, then it is officially over and that the president will sign a guest worker bill into law. You can put that in writing.

June 15th will be the day when president signs a new immigration bill that will allow millions to adjust their status. Remeber that, June 15th!!!!

Let me put this question out there for you guys....

If the immigraiton reform bill gets passed which seems more and more likely as the days go by, Who qualifies and who doesn't? Meaning who is eligible to adjust and who isn't?

Tancredo is a maniac...to put it as kindly as I can without resorting to abuses :-)

This is the some fool who decided to try and have the family of an honour student deported after a local nespaper profiled the kid who scored the highest marks in High School but could not go on to college becuase he was illegal; Tancredo decided to report them to the INS, the whole town turned against him and he went back to whatever rock he's been living under!

Tancredo is disregarded by the GOP themselves becuase they think he is a maniac and a polarising figure who has the potential to alienate the all to important Latino/Latina voting block. The GOP is not about to shoot itself in the foot by alienating what is the largest voting block to appease the Neo-con's in the party. Bush learnt Spanish (forsaking learning English in the process!!)and he's not about to let that go up in smoke.

The GOP has got to realize and seems like relaization has finally dawned that they cannot deport the aliens when companies rely on them and the economy of the U.S is driven and sustained to a very large extent by these very same people...the effort/desire to deport the illegal population is doomed to failure.

Well, actually people pushing for deportation are usually speaking paleoconservatives not neoconservatives. Pat Buchanan for example is a paleocon. He says that neocons that have taken over his beloved party are mostly ex-trotskyite(sp?) socialists. To tell you the truth, while most people seem to think that Dick Cheney is a hardcore conservative, he strikes me as more of a pro-Israel businessman. Neocons are more socially liberal than paleocons. Paleocons are more anti-immigration, pro-white, anti-affirmative action, etc. Neocons are more prone to waging wars. They would do anything for Israel. This is the sense I get.
Of course, the reality is that they can't deport all 11 million immigrants ;).

Here is a paleoconservative anti-immigration site if anybody is interested.

Michelle Malkin posts here once in a blue moon. What's odd is that Jared Taylor posts there as well. He is a White Supremacist. They've got all sorts of people, from eugenicists to White Supremacists to minorities like Michelle Malkin.

.
i was just struck by one of thugged out's comments
"close the 14th amendment loophole"
the 14th amendment is not a 'loophole'
its one of the things that defines this country

Where is Michelle Malkin? A Filipino beach!! I read her pro immigrant hater(both legal and illegal) book "Invasion".
This beach immigrated from Fillipines around 1972 with her physician dad. She used to come on Fox news around 2001-2002. But, I think big conservative stop listening her song now a days.

What does being a first class American citizen mean? Being at the top tier income bracket? Having a fancy lifestyle and a yacht? You have a job don't you? You make money don't you? You decided to pursue the American green card because of the opportunities you saw here as opposed to your beloved Nepal didn't you? I mean you feel treated like a first class citizen in Nepal? Nepal? The same country where half the indigenous and immigrant people aren't even allowed any closer than 40 yards to your house because they are untouchables? Exploited "proletariats" who work endlessly for feudal lords just to earn a meal at night? You know what they eat? A whole lot of rice, small portions of veggies and maybe meat once in a while if they are lucky. The same Nepal where thousands of madhesis are abused and never feel like a first class Nepali? You brag about how your status is uplifted in Nepal as opposed to America, at a time when your fellow nationals are begging for a ray of hope? The US is not to blame for not "accepting" you, your feeling, like many others, is merely a derivative of capitalism. The distribution of wealth is skewed in a perverse way, which creates a hierarchy of classes. But at least there is humanity. The US doesn't harbor such unfathomable social practices and norms that entertain human degradation. I don’t support ideologies that connote hatred and racism, but some of the problems illegal immigration creates are genuine problems and they have to be addressed and controlled. Look at the Bhutanese refugee crisis in Nepal. Why don’t we bring them to the work force and treat them equally? Why do we get upset about that? We must apply to ourselves the same standards we do to others, if not more stringent ones.

Thugged out,

Paleoconservatives..just how far back do these mororns go in terms of historic human development?...look..Jerry Fallwell, Pat Robertson and the bunch I think defy semantics of any kind. For a guy who accused a poor innocent purple Teletubby of being "gay"..that speaks volumes for his deranged state of mind. Neocon's, Palecon's..it's the loony tunes bunch (with apologies to the much loved cartoons of my youth :-))

The immigration debate has become so warped recently; Lou Dobbs only wants to scream at Mexicans from Mexico and blame them for everything that is wrong with America, Bill O'Reilly is too busy hyperventilating about rising crimes and the criminal illegals to realize that if deportation should be used as a means of reducing crime, the African American community had better beware since what 1 out of 4 African American males between the ages of 18 -31 are either in Prison or on Parole of some sort.

The fact is that no amount of screaming is going to solve this issue. The only resolution can come about with cooler heads ralizing that you need policy changes vis-a-vis corporations that hire illegals in order to keep profits up, Homeland security where they need to put down those crayons and quit changing the colours on alerts within the heartland long enough to actually figure out a border policy that is likely to work!
It's an election year, this is more about pandering for votes than it is a measure of concern for security of the nation.

Enough said....personally, I'm, too tired from screaming about this..on the streets and on various blogs/message boards....thankfully this is not an issue that the likes of Sensenbrenner, Tancredo et all are going to win any time soon.

i am not proud to be a Nepali. Nepali people are nosy, jelouse and unreasonalble who like to argue a lot for baseless.
Nepali people are jelouse of Nepali, they come and ask your status all the time. Specially, dumb dv winners they see no option to prospor in this country and jelouse of smart students who most of the time get better jobs than them. the dumb dv winners whine and get jelouse rather than trying to learn English or go get some associate degree.
I even met some very educated and high classNepali. same shit... same attitude... proud of thier heritage which was serving shahs and ranas.. what stupid people , taking proud of slavery to ranas and shahs...
it's not mahendra mala, it's real life.. we should realize our mistakes.. we are extermly nosy to each others, jelouse, and argumentative for no good reasons.. we need to correct ourselves...

My two pence worth if I may!

In Britain too, the debate over illegal immigration - a thorny issue as it is - keep surfacing now and then and sadly the ill-informed xenophobic lot always leave no stones unturned in demonising the illegal immigrants whenever there is an opportunity. The media does also have a complicit part to play in all this, which is sad given the country's liberal image in accepting a fair number of asylum seekers that make it from across the Channel. The UK appears to be their best destination in Europe and this may well be because of the relatively lenient immigration policies the govt has put in place. Surely there ought to be other dynamics involved in the surge of IIs pouring into the country - better wages for instance. However, forced deportations do take place and it is a costly business considering the phenomenally hefty amount of money that the govt requires in order to enforce its policies. More strain on the taxpayer's pocket there obviously. Recent Home Office estimates suggest the number of IIs in Britain to be in the region of over 400,000. And most work in low paying sectors such as cleaning, food production, care work etc - the low-paid jobs that the native-born people shun. And most of them are able bodies individuals, capable of finding shelters and food for themselves. And also they don't claim state benefits contrary to what the xenophobes purport when venting their spleen, because attempting to do so will reveal their whereabouts, hence a better chance of them being deported.

It was interesting to read figures published recently by a left-leaning think tank research group in the media. Migrants apparently fill a whopping 90% of jobs in London and account for 29% of the capital's workforce. Interesting point in their study was that they reckon, an estimated £1bn will be raised as govt revenues if the status of these so-called 'illegals' were to be legalised. This will surely alleviate the ballooning budget deficit currently being experienced by the govt departments. Resorting to deporting them in toto, an enterprise unlikely for the govt to take up in any case, would cost thrice as much.

The US has a history of granting amnesty to IIs and I am hoping tha this leniency does yet prevail, despite the efforts of the right wing hardliners. The Spanish did follow suit by legalising their IIs' status last year, and tellingly, this has boosted their govt's tax take quite markedly.

There is surely a moral - as well as economic - imperative attached to this whole affair. The West talks about the highfalutin economic programmes to eradicate poverty rampant in the third word and yet forgets all too easily about the well-being of a relatively small number of enterprising individual that arrive there in search of a better life for themselves and for their families. So much so that it allows itself to pander to the whims of the right wing hardliners without having delved deeper into finding meaningful alternatives in the first instance. Yes, its aid to the poor countries is vital but the remittances the people from these countries send home count much more. Life is hard enough already for 'illegals' what with having to work day in, day out, in most cases, for a pittance, and a wholesale crackdown on them is the last thing we want to see happening to them and one the West must avoid at all cost.

Okay enough for one post already before I go on to say more rubbish.

Nepaali,
Your analysis is most incisive and to the point, I must admit though that a lot of it went way over my head! Phew. In awe of your formidable wit, as always.
