Announcement of secular state disappoints Hindus all over the world Kathmandu, 26 May: India’s major Hindu nationalist political parties such as BJP, RSS, Bajrang party, Shivasena along with some major Hindu organizations seem quiet with the Nepal’s parliamentary announcement which declared Nepal as a secular state, writes Hindu weekly. The declaration has disappointed the Hindus all over the world as the honor of calling Nepal as the only Hindu nation in the world has been snatched. The following declaration is a conspiracy to establish Nepal as the Christian headquarters of Southeast Asia and it would turn out to be very dire for the Indians in the coming days. People’s News/KDB THIS NEWS DOES NOT SEEM UNLIKELY CONSIDERING THE NUMBER OF INGOs AND CHRISTIAN MONEY FLOWING IN NEPAL TO CONVERT PEOPLE IN CITIES, HILLS AND TERAI- EVERYWHERE. MY OWN MAID IN NEPAL THOUGH A CHHETRI HAS ALL HER 4 OUT OF 5 CHILDREN ALREADY CONVERTED. SHE HERSELF ALSO CONVERTED BUT REVERTED BACK TO HINDUISM DUE TO SOME REASON. THE CONVERTING ORGANIZATION PROVIDES THEM MONEY, GIVES THEM HOPE SAYING IF ONE CONVERTS ONE WILL GO TO HEAVEN AND ALSO ONE WILL BE FREE OF DISEASE.

neither me nor my family is disappointed by nepal being a secular state. nepal does not belong only to hindus. may be at one point it was populated by hindus, but today it has become more diverse with buddhists and chrisitans and muslims. it does not matter what religion we are, we are all nepalis to begin with. why so much hostility? teh moment we start saying 'this is a hindu country, nepal should remain hindu', we will start having religous conflicts. we have gotten along great so far, lets continue that one good tradition, shall we? why are you upset by nepal being declared a secular state? don't you have enough faith in your own religion that you want politics to protect itt?? bottom line, nepal belongs to nepalis, whether they be hindus, christians or muslims.

Religious fanatics and Maoists may say whatever they please but the way I look at this situation is that Maoists clearly know that they can not rule the country "peacefully" while the Hinduism has a good base in the country. Just the same approach that Mao followed when taking over China and stamping out traditional religion. Remember Mao said "religion is poison". Also, if history is an example then religion can bring masses together which may fight against Imperialism or Communism. Read Chanakya, if you will. Clearly, Maoists want to be the only properly organized mass in Nepal in order to achieve their desired success. No matter what religion of no religion the country is affiliated to - the main issues facing the country - illiteracy, health etc - will not go away. The people who exploit cheap labour to keep maids will continue to do so and has nothing to do with religion.

I think mao said "too much" religions is poison referring to dalai lama fom tibet. He made those remarks when all those buddhist nun in tibet kept on praying all the time and did nothing to help the poor one. The buddhist nun used to get half of the food cultivated in a year from the very poor, where farmers were working so hard ,only half of the year was used for cultivation because of tibet geographical condition... you can find to fraction of buddhist ,one supporting mao and the other dalai lama........

Yes, those were the words of Mao to Dalai Lama but I dont know whether he added "too much" in front or not - anyway translation from Chinese to English wont be exact is my guess. But, before that he was already in the path of secular religion in the mainland china. I wont be surprised if the same people who have supported Tibetan cause will now forget that to achieve their ultimate goal because supporting Tibetan cause as well as secular Nepal does not sound right to me. The fact is that Tibet represent just a fraction of the 60 million people murdered by Mao's secular religion of Chinese Communism. If you want the facts - 1978 Guinness book of world records listed Mao ahead of Hitler and Stalin as the biggest mass murderer. If you saw Maoist Suresh Bhandaris interview taken by Kevin Sites - he clearly mentions that they are following the footsteps Mao and Stalin with some reforms and I leave upto the readers what he could mean by those "reforms".

Now that the countries have been declared secular....there would be less support for the maoists who had also gained some popularity among communities e.g( patan ,kritipur and other natives' communities) who always felt uncomfortable with the term-hindu Nation.

Hey Ron, I hope you are not ron sitaula the nephew of the present Mao home minister.( If you are I have heard that you do a lot of illegal acts which has dreawn the attention of FBI too.) Why is it such a big deal to you? When you are a Nepali it is well known that many in Nepal do have maids and servants at home. Even here in USA I have seen many people keeping house maids who cook and clean for them. My real estate agent who is a white lady tells me that her maid is from Asia. So, what's the bid deal about it, ron ji? Converting ignorant people by giving them false hope and greed is not the right thing ! I personally do not mind educated and aware people converting if they believe they should do so.

I don't have any problem even if Nepal is converted to a Christian state. After all, what did so many years of being a Hindu state gave to Nepal besides poverty and discrimination? Whatever is the religion doesn't matter if there's peace and stability. The higher treatment of brahmins, discrimination towards women and minorities and most importantly, the biggest brainwash done by Hinduism is the idea of being a recluse and avoiding everything including work. People have the feeling that they don't have to work hard and we have to avoid pleasures of life to get spiritual. This has led to people being lazy and too light towards work. If Nepal prospers being Christian state, be it. I dream of Nepal being the one of the most developed countries in Asia one day.

u people r bashing hinduism so much. but do remember that it is the freedom of expression within hinduism that is allowing you to do so. can u do the same in a muslim country? or for that matter, try speaking that in front of an imam, or a muslim in nepalgunj, or followers of your pope. hinduism is pluralistic and democratic in the true sense, u can worship any deity, u may not go to temple, u may not worship, still u remain a hindu. u can follow the Charvak Darshan, which says "there is no god, no swarga, or no naraka, so just eat, drink n be merry" n u can still remain a hindu. can you give any evidence of such varied philosophies within the rubric of the same religion? u can say anything about shiva/ vishnu etc, try doing that about mohammad n see what happens. there r practices which r definitely not good in current day hinduism like the caste system, but are there no nuances at all in other religions? r they 100% good? we should try to leave the bad aspects in our religion and follow the good aspects. we should try to look at the better aspects in hinduism as well rather than constantly bashing it.

hey chikne, religion is the man's interpretation how he thinks god is! in different forms,, shape..whatever. but the wise man chooses the one which is easy, flexible and practicle and true. those nations where people choose so many religions and worship so many, are not wise, therefore in those country will always be poor and conservative. you are the perfect example. no body is maid, god has set all of us free. that lady is just working in ur house, ur not doing any favor.

Very soon, Nepal will realise. I don't know what these Politicians are thinking/afraid off. They won't get any time to regret later. Now they are making fun of Hinduism to show respect to others. Hinduism never offended anyone. But we got to protect ourself and gain self respect. But now we are no where, almost lost. Sooner or later, again there will be hue and cry in Nepal. Friends, is it too late?????????

I will not be surprised if Christianity starts spreading among the poor in Nepal. Yes and that will be by the foreign Christianity missions and the investors. A religion spreading on the basis of money is unhealty indeed !
