In what is seen as a moral boost to the tourism entrepreneurs, Kathmandu has been ranked as the 3rd best city in Asia by Travel and Leisure magazine. Bangkok tops the chart while Hongkong is settled at number five. It is a real surprise to the whole world that Kathmandu was able to win the hearts of the tourists despite the domestic violence which plagued the country for about a decade. However, with the signs for peace rolling around the corner, Kathmandu should be a hot spot for the tourists again. So, what is there to see in Kathmandu? Well, literally there are millions of things that you don’t want to miss out on your trip to this wonderland. There are numerous historical and cultural sites. Kathmandu is also called the city of temples. Five sites in Kathmandu have been listed as World Heritage Sites. 1. Patan Durbar Square 2. Kathmandu Durbar Sqaur 3. Pashupati, Bouddha, Swayambhunath 4. Changu Narayan 5. Balaju, Budhanilkantha 6. Kritipur, Chobhar and Dakshinkali Nagarkot is the perfect place to see the sun rise and the nearby mountains. Moreover, numerous mountains are visible from Kathmandu. Spacious, cheap and comfortable 5-star hotels are there to serve you with what you need. If you want even more cheaper hotels, you can find them here too. source: http://dreamnepal.wordpress.com/2006/08/01/visit-nepal-ii-kathmandu-voted-one-of-the-best-cities-in-asia

Hahahaha, You got it bidhan, may be it is time for adventure tourism. Taking part on those strikes, riots and ralleys can be really exciting. That too, in the midst of those temples and palaces. It really is a video-gamic feeling of playing War Zone II. ha ha.

most of the tourists visited Nepal to capture the seen of demonstration, sea of people on the streets shoutng against the KING's autocratic rule. But what is most astonoshing is these political parties and maiost are saying that those all the people came out because they support them. Actually, it's not. They came just hoping peace, they just shouted coz they need peace, at any cost. HOPE this truth, they will understand as early as possible.

mero chaak ktm ranked #3 in asia, but based on what criterias? maybe tourists like to see oppressed women, dalits, child servents, constant Nepal bandh days, unhygenic conditions, suffering of poor Nepalis and glare of hopelessness in their eyes, pollution without any measures to control it, corruption, vehicle noises that deafen your ears, etc. it's absolutely preposterous to put ktm in anyone's top 10 list of tourist destinations.

Well there are different things tourists look for... Kathmandu is cheap, language problem isn't a big deal(you can easily find people who can help you), there are historical and cultural sites from hundreds of years ago, and even mountain peaks are visible... and of course, nagarkot is pretty near... Kathmandu is a mix of 21st century modern amenities and barbarian habitat...so its a fun place to be...remember it used to be the place for hippies..still that age is possible in ktm...cheap prices...great fun..n independence... So ktm can attract a diverse array of ppl..
