MOMO
1. In mahaboudha there was a three storied momo shop. It was only 8/plate and we used to take 'ded' plate.

2.Everest momo, mhankal ko momo, Gaushala ko ukalo ko momo

3. Momo kothey and thukpa in patan dhoka ko tibetean ko momo pasal(forgot the name)

Family Dinner
The roof top restaurant in New baneshwor (TOP floor of nabil/indoswez bank)
newari restaurant near hotel shankar( Lainchaur)
keyman's Bhanchha ghar

Newari delicacies
kalimati chowk ko newari restaurant
a traditional newari restaurant near kilagal( the entrance was through a chowk)

to check out cool chicks and cool trendy food
naglo
all locations of bakery cafe
nirulaz
wimpy and hot bread

Beer
(no bar on location as long as it is sanmiguel/carlsberg)
tom and jerry pub( unlimited supply of popcorn!)
maya pub
beer garden of nanglo on the way to basantapath

with a foreign guest
rum doodle
Italian restaurant in Thamel ( forgot the name)

movie date
In the small cozy theater built in the kamaladi complex(it was just opened when i left nepal)

romantic dinner
food was never a priority durring some of the luckiest dates!
Amber(durbar marg)
shiva's.....(dharmapath)

south indian dishes
Banglore coffee house, opposite to trichandra

these are the some places where i used to hang out with my friends, All these places had reasonable prices to suit a student budget. I think i deliberately did not list some of the dance/gazal restaurants !I dont mean these are the best places, they were good and still make me nostalgic

I always wondered who would name a fast food restaurant 'wimpy.' Or, is there another meaning that i am missing. I beleive it is a part of chain resturant and one of them is in Delhi too.

In Kathmandu, I really liked Nanglo's sizzlers and momos. Jatra was good too although I went there just once last year. I forget all their names but there were a couple fo good places like Roadside Cafe and Maya etc that were really good in the Thamel of the early to mid ninetees.


Some of my other favorites -
Kebab Factory on Beacon Street for Indian,
Naked Fish in Fanuel Hall for Cuban,
Anna's Tequira (Porter) and Ole (Inman) for Mexican,
Roka (Harvard) for Japanese,
S&S (Inman) for American,
Ajanta (Galleria Mall) for more Indian, Udupi (Framingham) for South Indian, Elephan Walk (Porter) for French and Cambodian.

Also ,

-Siam City on Mass Ave near Prudential for Thai.
-Sydneys Grill at the University Park Hotel in Central square has some great appetizers like Loster and chicken rolls.
-New Asia in Harvard Sq for Chinese
-Forget the name, but this really good Thai-japanese palce on Main Street, Hyannis


Man all this atlk about food is making me hungry - I'm off to dinner.
