i have flee on gulf more than once, don't have any experience with quatar though. gulf is pretty good, i must say. the food especially is awesome. you'll get to chose between chicken and lamb if you are a vegeterian :). plus the air hostesses are pretty good looking and friendly as well. i like the arabic dress they wear and with a hat (?) on, they look gorgeous/sexy :P. so yeah, time just flies by :P. of course at/after baharain, you'll be accompanied by our fellow nepalese from the middle east. although i don't have any sour experience as such, once there was this nepali gentleman who wanted to drink more than the quota which a passenger is allowed to, so he was having a minor brawl with the hostess. hehe...that was kinda funny. all in all, worth an experience! Well I had a very bad experience flying GULF air. I flew to KTM last year. Lost my one piece luggage on the way. Took about 4 months to get compensation. Later found out that GULF air is the second after BIman in terms of losing luggages. Staff at KTM GULF air office are rude. If there is a change in your travel plan you need to go to gulf air office at 6 AM in the morning and wait for your turn to talk to sales agent. You will waste whole day to reconfirm your itenerary. This really sucks. Flights from Baharain to KTM never departs and arrives in time. The Europian leg flight has better service. But when it comes to Baharin to Nepal.. they treat you like shit. Only plus point i found was they have good food and beautiful airhostess. But then again what is the point of having beautiful hostess if they don't show up when you ask for services??? I won't recommend Gulf air to anyone.

okay i have to partly agree with what sarvendra said. i have one such experience while flying from ktm to bahrain. the flight got cancelled and i had to stay at my sweet home for one more day, hahaha....i enjoyed it though, got one more day to eat my mom's hand made meal. :P hmm....the gulf air staffs at the ktm airport are pretty unprofessional so to speak, as they took 3 hrs to modify the itenerary of my new schedule, so yeah that sucks, but don't forget, its nepal! :P however, discrepencies are bound to happen with almost all the airlines. i would not know how consistent are gulf in screwing up the passengers' schedule hehe...need to do a bit of research on that. having said that, i have pretty good experiences as well. apart from good food and 'chwank' hostesses, on more than one occasion, while travelling from doha to ktm, since there were not many passengers in the business class, they offered me the first class (business) seat for my economy ticket. that was a pleasing experience. another plus point with gulf airways is, you'll get the tickets with more ease and at reasonable price than with other airlines, say austrian. the tickets are more easy to get even if you schedule your travel with not much time in your hand. when i flew last year, they allowed me two check in baggages (60 lbs each) and two carry ons. i have heard that they now allow three baggages to check in, not too sure about that though. happy travelling! LooTe

Gulf Air does not fly to US. I believe one has to fly United or American airlines to Europe lmost likely Paris or Frankfurt if you are flying from US. So you have to follow these American airlines luggages polices. These days they allow two check in luggages each not more than 50 lbs and one hand carry bag. In terms of fare, gulf air is may be 100 dollars cheaper but you are adding risk worth of more than Hundred dollars. Here are the couple of suggestions that come from my first and last flying experience with GULF air. 1. If your luggage is over weight and you are paying.. make sure your payment receipt has every thing written down..eg .. the amount you paid and your final destination. 2. Do not change your travel plan unless you have to. This will bring you lot of trouble. While you are in KTM. You don't want to waste your valuable time in GULF air office. 3. Gulf Air does not issue one way ticket from KTM. 4. Usually Gulf air provides discounted round trip tickets if you complete your travel within four months. If you can not complete in four months you lose money. Better not to fly gulf air if you can not complete your travel in 4 months. Make sure you talk to your travel agency. This may be true with other airlines too. 5. KTM - Baharain leg is profit oriented leg. So do not expect excellent service. Just keep in mind that you are simply traveling in a night bus. 6. Avoid dealing with KTM gulf air staffs. They are highly unprofessional and rude.

Qatar Airways is one of the best airlines i have travelled with. The service and like loote said the airhostesses r cute and very friendly. KLM is better than Lufthansa and Air France. I Prefer Singapore Airlines. Thai Airlines is fair. Delta Airlines of USA Sucks big time lolz.. Try Qatar Airways bro.

I have never flown in Gulf or Qatar but my mom just came to see me and she took Qatar. Someone already said that you will have to switch to US carriers (continental in this case) at some point and you will have to follow their luggage guidelines. Overall, my mom said she has nothing to complain about. She found the airlines staff very friendly and didnt complain about the food. The luggage was in great shape, not a single trace of dirt. She has never travelled to US before and I had requested a 'meet and greet' service (as someone in Sajha suggested) and she had no trouble getting from one place to the other. The transit was only about 2 hrs and the flight was on time. They do have special rate if you fly back within 4 months..but i dont think its that 'special'. They still charge you the same as any other airline..I just think its their marketing gimmick. Gurudev, if you are flying back in Qatar..may I ask from where and when? Coz I will feel much better sending her off with some Nepali travel companion.

I don't recommend anybody to go with Gulf Air. I travelled in gulf Air few months back. You have to Reconfirm your return tickets with Gulf Air. I went to reconfirm my tickets and the guy working in Gulf Air office in Kathmandu said everything is ok . I went to Airport and the guard even didn't let me in saying that there was no flight of GUlf Air that day. see, how careless are the people working in Gulf Air. I had to return, there was no other option, I had to go to Gulf Air office next day and waited in the line and change my itenerary. Besides, food are also not good in gulf Air. If you get a seat in back row then you are done. you have to eat lamb or you have no choice because the chicken are already finished. lamb lamb lamb and I was sick of lamb. If you are vegeterain then you iwll get potato. and lalmohan nothing else. decide by yourself becasue we are here only to share our experiences, the choice is yours.
