Maoists are dropping off letters at houses in Kathmandu saying that 10-15 maoists cadres are coming to live in each house (forcefully). The house owners will have to cook and feed them too. What happened to democracy if they were going to force themselves on us !!!

I agree with Mike even though I'm from valley. More than 90% of MP's are elected from outside the valley but they all stay in valley. When lot's of thing happened to villages none of the valley resident tried to help those poor villagers. Now when something happens in valley, they need moral or help from outside the valley. What a parasite.

- http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/6125334.stm Human rights groups in Nepal have condemned Maoist rebels over reports of intimidation of people in Kathmandu ahead of a huge public rally on Friday. It follows reports that locals had been threatened into giving shelter and food to thousands of rally participants - allegations denied by rebel leaders. The reports come as the Maoists and the government hold talks to end 10 years of civil war. Both sides are talking about a major breakthrough. 'Dire consequences' The Maoists plan to project the rally as a show of strength, at which the rebel leader, Prachanda, is to make his first public address in 25 years. Groups of rebels have been seen making house-to-house visits asking the residents to feed and shelter the participants in the rally. The participants are expected to arrive in Kathmandu by Thursday. The rebels say they plan to bring half a million people from across the country to attend the event in the capital. Each household has reportedly been asked to give shelter to at least 10 people and feed another three until the rally is over. The residents have accused the rebels of threatening them with dire consequences if they do not oblige. A rebel leader in charge of the Kathmandu Valley area denied the allegations. Ananta, as he is known, told the BBC that Maoist cadres had been instructed not to use coercion. He said that residents had only been requested, rather than obliged, to provide food and shelter. Despite the denial, human rights groups including the independent National Human Rights Commission, members of parliament and diplomatic missions have all voiced criticism. In a statement, the US embassy said that the Nepali staff at the embassy, and even US citizens, had been the targets of Maoist demands. About 13,000 people have died in the rebels' struggle for a communist state.

Enuff defeatist mentality. One reason why nepal will never progress is because of this attitude. We need to be forward thinking and figure out what we can do NOW? Not brood over what could not be done or what was not possible to do. What do you expect? Do you expect the people from the valley to go marching into the villages to save them from the maoists? The people from the valley have to earn their daily bread. I am not undermining the atrocities faced by the villagers but the people from the valley could not possibly have dont anything about it. But now that the atrocities are coming to their doorstep, it's time for them to resist. The people from the valley don't need support from outside the valley. All I'm saying is they need to unite and form plans to resist these maofockers.

Don't be stupid and start making assumptions that I am not in the valley right now. It's people like you who are living abroad and try to discourage me to try to get the message out to the others in the valley to start resisting the maofockas. Shame on you.

If this happens trust me folks......there will be a blood shed waiting to happen and which of course we don't want but if things goes the way they want all the time which KTM Valley people don't want then yes............. ‘cause they can’t and they should not impose people if they don’t want. If they keep doing the way people don’t want…….well……then end is soon to come of some so called leaders. Don’t impose people too much the way they don’t want if peace is what they are looking for to live and let live motto.

Ya exactly ktmdude. When someone wants to do something about it instead of sitting like lame ducks, some self proclaimed morons have issues with it.

We should not listen to those people who don't want to listen to us. We should always focus our goal and ride the time as it comes. Listening to what is not needed and trying to find out what is that makes our target get no where because we will be wasting our time looking for something that is not in our agenda. Cheers and keep us all update.
