As the year draws to an end, there are a number a things that will come to each individual's mind when we look back at 2006.
In general, what kinds of events in the arena of music, movies, literature, sports, world affairs, politics etc would you associate with the year which we are going to leave behind?
To me as a Nepalese, the historic Peace Accord cannot be overlooked as we had been hoping and praying for that miraculous day for almost a decade. There are a number of hurdles to be overcome in our young democracy, but we shall survive all of them and learn from out mistakes. Let's all do our best to safeguard our inborn rights for pursuit of happiness (without violating the right of others) and at the same time we need to act with responsibility and collectively for the good of the nation irrespective of what our inborn backgrounds are. Last but not the least, all the people who have lost their lives in the conflict, they all lived a worthwhile life.

Coming to the music part (what a sudden transition I acknowledge HAHA!), I think this is one of the best songs, I will associate 2006 with, for the rest of my days ahead.

While the lyric sounds rather depressing, it is in fact trying to uplift the spirit of a frustrated individual going by the day. For instance, the line 'where is the passion when you need it the most?' can testify to that. Definitely, my song of the year and here it goes.

I urge you to express yourself so that I can get all of your points of view about the passing year as I am certain the year was as special as every other year in our invaluable lives.

Wish you all sajhaites a Happy New Year 2007 as well.

Dedicated to ganapati baabu as he is engaged to his woman:

Grow old with me -John Lennon

Grow old along with me
The best is yet to be
When our time has come
We will be as one
God bless our love
God bless our love

Grow old along with me
Two branches of one tree
Face the setting sun
When the day is done
God bless our love
God bless our love

Spending our lives together
Man and wife together
World without end
World without end

Grow old along with me
Whatever fate decrees
We will see it through
For our love is true
God bless our love
God bless our love

TM,
Nice thought there! I just finished writing a paper on Hellen Keller’s “Three Days to See”. It was painful to realize how ignorant we all are of the beauty of life and nature; but the question is do we even have time for it? . How often do we pray and God and thank for the day that has just passed? Although, I do; I can only think of whining. And, do we even realize how easily we procrastinate; little do we care to realize if we actually have yet another day. Perhaps, we jus tend to take things for granted. “It is the same old story of not being grateful what we have until we lose it, of not being conscious of health until we lose it.” Everytime I call home and tell them how much I miss home and long to come, all I hear is “There is nothing, what do u miss?”. The paradox for me here is that there everything in the “nothing”. This year has been a year of hardship, stress and miracle for me and around me; I dnt think I can sum it in a single song…yet if I have to try….I’d go for at least two ;P….

Life is too short to whine!
Imagine by John Lennon:

Crowded House : "Don't Dream"

Sosaysi!
Awesome songs and notion there.
True, we don't realize the value of something until gone for good. Therefore, we ought to be grateful for the great things one has and others don't.

An excerpt of the song I am going to post goes like
"Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you got till it's gone".

(Here is 'Big Yellow Taxi' beautiful song originally composed by Janis Joplin but here in the clip performed by
Counting Crows with subtle modification)

Tseten! hang on buddy. Hardships make you wiser while luxury corrupts the mind even more ruthlessly than a war does.
Those pains are going to pay-off soon.
