To be Registered Nurse (RN) in the United States

If you have at least a Staff Nursing degree from Nepal, you can be a RN in this summer.
Ascent Total Solutions, LLC, a Virginia based company, is introducing a program which will benefit to those Nepali Nurses who are taking more than three months to be RN in U.S. Here is how the program works.

The company will provide:

1.Free accommodation for three months.
2.Free ATT (Authorization to take NCLEX Test) thorough a State Board of Nursing
3.Free Finger Printing
4.Free study materials, instruction and other resources like 24 hr High speed Internet access
5.Free Registration with Pearsonvue to take NCLEX exam

The company will help you:

1.To find a job as a RN but you can work anywhere you want. There is no binding agreement between you and the company
2.To process work permit, if you don’t have one.

What you will pay:

Once you start working as a full time Registered nurse, you will pay 39% of your first year’s income as service fee to the company. This service fee can be negotiated.


Just know that there is no up front fee and you never have to pay even a penny until and unless you get a full time RN job. Therefore you are not losing anything since the company is doing everything for you.

To qualify for this program, you must be registered by May 15, 2007.

good thread but my question is..... Good friend of my mine is nurse in nepal and she has been working as nurse for almost 5 year now but i don't know what she has to do to get nursing licence from united states, and i'm going to sponsor her. will some one clear my doubt please.

Ask your Close friend to send her Transcripts to you. Evaluate them with NURSING departments in affiliated NURSING COLLEGES in the U.S if she can appear in R.N exam. They will recommend if she has to take any courses before doing so.

One has to pass the R.N test to practice nursing. you already know that right?

Getting advices from the internet may be free and easy, albeit there is an equal chance of getting wrong information. If you heed my words, you should contact one of the agencies that has taken upon the task of getting nurses like your friend a position in the US hospitals. You might have to fork out a little money (some even give free consultation), but its worth it for your as well as your friend's benefit.

if you can find a job for her with Nepal's degree sure you/she can go that route. Otherwise how can she come here ? Then F1 is the option. Or if you are planning to get her in Dependent visa ( if that is the case) sure you can do that. She can take her time and plan accordingly.

I don't have a so close friend like yours at present but it's the similar case. I am trying to get her (who ever she would be - i will know pretty soon - I haven't met her yet ) in dependent visa. After her arrival she will be joining nurshing college. We will go from there. I have asked her to send her transcripts so I can send to the nursing college for admission and if she will be eligible to take the R.N test with nepal's degree.

A friend of mine who is a medical doctor ( originally from india) has suggested to do so. And for verification I asked and heard similar stories from other nepali frieds.

Therefore, I would say you ask her to send her Transcripts and send for evaluation. After you get proper advise from nursing department ( advisors) you both can plan. But remember to practice Nursing one must have R.N test passed regardless of where he/she obtained his/her degree. It's like getting P.E for us ( my case civil eng.).

that will four more years. and u dont know u will get nursing seat or not. getting admission is very easy. they will enroll u but getting into right degree is not that easy. again it will depend upon colleges. some has plenty of nursing seats available and in some u have be in waiting list. but after doing nursing from Nepal, starting whole course over again doesn't make any sense. give couple of nursing tests and get the license and wait till visa get available.

but most imp thing is schedule a visas which is unavailable right now.

If your friend has a Visa Screen Certificate and Valid Visa, I may have an answer for you.
I am assuming that your friend's Nursing degree is not from here since you did not mention in detail.

She has valid visa but doesn't have visascreen certificate. This time she is preparing for Toefl and he has license for RN. She graduated from Nepal.

My free advice:
If your friend is (or will be) in the US on F-2 dependent visa, why should she try to go to F-1? Waste of resources (time [2-3 months for admission procedure, 2-3 months for changing status] and money [application processs, tuition fee to maintain status]). If she spends time wisely preparing for NCLEX-RN and TOEFL (anyway, TOEFL is required for college admission too) or IELTS and gets hold of VisaScreen certificate within 6-9 months of arriving in the US, I wouldn't even think of F1 [twice the trouble to maintain separate status for both husband and wife). I hope this retrogration (at least for the Healthcare professionals) will be over by that time.

If she is still in Nepal, she can start the state board of nursing licensure by examination application process and cgfns visascreen process from Nepal while waiting to get visa to US. Honestly, F2 is the best way to the path of RN. If someone wants to pursue higher degrees, RN to BSN online programs are available from many accredited colleges after getting through green card procedure.

Well, I have multiple family members and friends taking separate paths (Start to finish within US as F2 and H4; NCLEX-RN and VisaScreen completed from Nepal and came to US; F1 finished degree/licensure; Frustrated F1 converted to F2; B2 - started the process from Nepal completing licensure).

I need to see my transcript what degree I finished.

Rudder, as of my last experience, few visa application to come to US for NCLEX-RN has been rejected. The consular suggests to go to Hong Kong or India. If one can come to US on B2 for other purpose that will be good. If you need specific advice you can email to me. (Disclaimer: I am neither a law professonal nor a healthcare profesional.
