I have a fren here in Dallas who wants to apply.
And can the process be done from Dallas itself?

Good luck. Be careful with those lawyers, they like stealing money off you. It's always good to ask for advise from other people who have done asylum before with success.

Dallas service center judges are very conservative in this asylum things. I would suggest you to either go to Newyork( virgina service center) or go to california service center. They are liberal in this case. Iits like gambling. It can be approved or not. There is a risk involved. If you are not approved you must leave the country and will be placed a bar of at least 2-3 years. If you want, you can stay here as long as you want illegally but you will be jeopardizing the rest of the opportunity. If you approved, you will be given the PR after a year.

12. Business registration and tax registration documents in Nepal if any
13. land/building ownership and valuation documents of lands in Nepal
14. Any news printed in the newspapers related to the threats, bombing, extortion, murder, battery or property damage
15. Occupation of family members and evidence thereof
16. Threat letters, photographs, publications of any kind related to the threat
17. Medical Treatment reports if applicable
18. Any other related evidences

I have a question for you? How relevant is it now to apply for asylum. One of my friend's dad used to be CDO back in Nepal. He was posted to the far western development region and also was threatened by many forces as we know what it is. He is right now in USA. His visa is expiring on October. He came here in b1/b2. How long does the process take. He does not want to stay here illegally rather wants to see the results within October. He is in dilemma . What would you suggest him. Your suggestion would be appreciated.

If you want I will give you the contact number of best lawer who is in newyork. Donot listen too many voices of people. if so you gonna be puzzle. You can apply asylum this time because the politics of Nepal still in liqud and worse. but you need to be careful while preparing the your story. Donot take too much heachahe. Hire the good lawyer. most of lawyer are good.
Otherway you can look out the present exsiting and debating bill which is on going in the congress. That would also be fruitful for obtaining status. Download the form and instruction from Above target=_blank>www.uscis.gov.
Above mentioed some necessity documets posted by someone is unnecessary.

Here's the thing. Once you file for asylum, there are three outcomes! You get approved in 2 weeks , you get a recommended approval ( can take years to arrive ) ,and you get sent to court! Either way, you wont be illegally staying here! On top of all that, you'll get a SSN, Working permit too! Hence, after filing for asylum, there's no looking back! The worst is for the case to be sent to the court but even that's gonna take 3-4 years! hope that helps!

my fren actually is in NY but plans to come to Dallas soon so he was like asking me "hey, is it an easier process applyin from dallas or NY?" and from what i read above it seems pretty evident that it is better if he applied from NY instead of Dallas..
