I am having rough time during my 3rd month of pregnency. I lost my appetite and usually throw up quite often specially if any meat is involved in my meal. Please suggest any typical nepalese home based cure/food to overcome this situation and gain my appetitie. I will appreciate your thoughts.

I would go to Doctor and seek advice. This is the health matter, do not try whatever other people suggest. Those things might work for some but not for all, sometime even they might bring other complications. The best way is to talk with your Doctor. Anyway, congratulations!!! for being mother soon.

I had terrible pregnancy. I used to throw up everything I ate or drank. I tried everything from saltine crackers to ginger to vitamin B6. When nothing worked my OB/GYN finally prescribed me something which did wonders for me.

Besides following traditional methods (which are also recommended by more mainstream institutions), I think you should start reading/subscribing to one of the many pregnancy related websites. I get mine from www.babycentre.co.uk (UK based, but still works fine for me, and relevant). Some of the traditional remedies for morning sickness and other occurrences that will show up in near future are also recommended by doctors. I think as a way to avoid all/any medications (usually tempting, but highly discouraged), traditional remedies work just fine.
Re food: there will be no one set of food that you will want to eat day in and day out. It will change every day, every meal. The trick is to have some stock of almost every variety of food, popsicles included. I have gone through numerous packets/varieties of Gits ready to eat mixes/meals, Indian food deliveries, pasta, pizza, daal bhaat, etc. And for the past 5 months no food item has repeated within the same week. Also recommended are occassional treats outside.
Eat frequently in small quantities. The trick here is to have some food handy at all times. Even carrot sticks, steamed veg (broccoli, etc.) boiled/baked potatoes, etc.
Eat warm. This helps with apetite.
AVOID ALL MASALA, FRYING, etc at home if at all possible. Smell contributes to morning sickness. I had to go back to the low end detergent for laundry, as an example.
Coffee: Avoid it. Tea: basic tea (tea flavoured milk is what I call it), one cup in the morning is OK. Have some dry crackers with tea first thing in the morning.
And avoid any medications if at all possible, including those prescribed to cure morning sickness. You will be doing your baby a huge favor.
I hope these have been helpful. As always, these are my experiences, and yours will be different. These are NOT PROFESSIONAL and AUTHORITATIVE recommendations, so the judgement should entirely be yours.
_x

I think ginger tea means just ginger and boiled water, no tea or coffee.Yes it is very helpful. I used to keep dry roated cereal , any brand, near bed head board and eat it first in the morning before i get up. I hated milk and it made me nautious. so no milk in morning. u can have it later. no empty stomach, keep filling with snacks now and then. smell of any fried food used to make me thow, so i avoided it, did not go near kfc or mcdonald until 5 month preg. i used to lock bedroom door when my husband cooked his daily food. basically i lived with liquid, lot of juice and dry food. could not take any masaledar food until i was 5 month. But IT IS DIFFERENT with DIFFERENT PEOPLE. so don't have to follow me. Just suggestion!

2.Take some fruits and fluids.
3.Eat every 2-3 hours (small but many times)

Stay away from those fatty things, think of neutrition only, should not gain too much weight otherwise you will get a saggy belly and hard to get rid off. Your weight must be proportionate to your body mass and days of baby in your womb. Get a book and study, will give you better idea than bullshits here in sajha.

Hyakula Ji,
I know what you mean. I have 8 month baby and I know it for sure how it feel. As doctors said, every preagnancy is different preagnancy. Your baby is unquie to you, CONGRATULATIONS. Talking about my own experience, I inhaled lime and lemon. When I felt like throw-out, my husband ran to the kitchen, cut the lemon and I felt better. It worked fine for me. First thing I ate was CHIURA- (beaten rice). It helped me a lot. Somebody from Nepal brought Rato Chiura and I loved it. These crackers were not my type. Lot of preagnant women feel bad with meat. If I watched TV program that shows meat, I smelled it and start again. I was that much bad. Being Nepali, we receive lot of family support which is important. Hyakula, peragnancy is not the illness that we worried about. Its all about baby, Baby and BABY. Take Good care of yourself as well as your lil one. By the way, did you have your first sonogram?
Siju

First of all Congratulation Hyakula. AS someone else suggested that Adua ko chya ( Ginger Tea) with no milk might do good for you as it helped me when I was pregnant. Stay away form deep fried food, try to eat some dry toast with your tea that might help you. I assume that you are in your first trimester right. Usually second trimester is much better than the first one. Other thing, I know we Nepali people love to feed someone we care about. So, if your family is trying to feed you little too much than you want, politely deny it because it is all about you and the little one. Hang in there, Pregnancy will get better and all the best to you.
