A southern movie director lets say got inspired by Hollywood Guy Pearce movie and he made a tamil movie with exactly same script
Then later or at the same time Amir Khan too got inspired by this Momento Movie and made a Bollywood movie with an exact scrit.
Is that what is it??
Well you know in most cases i've seen when a movie is made twice with same script the original movie's essence gets lost somewhere like the movie "Open Your Eyes", when Tom Cruse copied it and presented it in "Vanilla Sky", the magic of that spanish movie had just wasn't there in Hollywood movie.
I am not tryin to be a smart ass here but you know get out of the box, try other foreign movies...Korean, French, Italian...they got some originality and are worth a lot. But then again i am sorry if i offended anyone. Happy Thanks Giving...eat delicious Tofu.
Correct me if I am wrong, but methinks you recently finished watching Memento on youtube and realized it inspired Ghajini. And what’s up with that dhoti crap? Can’t you simply say Indians? Why belittle more than a billion people when you have resentment towards just one movie.
Also, if you claim to outline yourself as an individual who has lived, ate and slept Nolans, Coen brothers, Eastwood and Coppola; you fail to impress. For me, you seem like another punk who just started watching Hollywood movies (thanks to internet) and is now suddenly claiming his facts straight.
There is no suspense about Ghajini’s story plot, it is a remake of “Memento” and it has been revealed by the director itself, the information of which you must have presumably missed. Also you need to be educated commie boy; Indian movies were once your parents’ favorites before you started evolving as a human. Deny that? Go ask your dad, bet he had once mistaken himself as Dev Anand just like you are momentarily obsessed with this Hollywood fad.
Appealing to masses of over a billion people is not a joke, and when films like “Paar” and “Mirch masala” do not bring home the bacon, originality goes out of the window. If given an opportunity to remake a similar flick one in our “Kollywood” (HAHAHA), you would not leave any stone unturned. So stop being a backseat driver who whistles Dixie.
Just stop carrying double standard. More than anything, we have been brought up to hate Indian. This is what happens everyday in streets of Nepal. I guess we are so afraid of our failure that we start bashing Indian to feel better???
Being said that, I am not a huge supporter of India but it is what it is. This is part of Nepali culture and it will always be part of Nepali culture. We have to accept it, sooner the better!!
i think the ultimate thing that certifies us as a genuine Nepali is by how much we hate India. Even though, we don't have a decent economy, an entertainment industry, a cricket team, u name it.......we take pride in following all of those from them and by cursing them endlessly.
We all need to get a life. Watch within us, what do we have that we can show to others? stop watching Indian movies, stop watching their cricket, stop working for them...and spend our whole life hating them.
Hollywood directors copying Asian Horror flicks and Bollywood directors copying Hollywood action hits. Truth be told that everyone is inspired by great works. Remember that it was Departed, a remake of the Hong Kong thriller Infernal Affairs, that landed Martin Scorsese with an Oscar after years of injustice.
Coming up with a great remake is as much an art in directing as is coming up with a whole new storyline, especially when people have seen the original and you have to be able to deliver an extra wow factor on the show. It's true that most Bollywood remakes haven't lived up to expectations but so haven't Hollywood movies like The Grudge and Shutter. From recent memories, I would commend Sarkar as an excellent remake of the Godfather I & II. I haven't seen Ghajini yet, but I wouldn't rule it out as a trashy remake before watching it.
