Bro,
There is no way you go can go outside US after your visa expires. The beauty of US system is you can stay here as long as it takes to complete your studies, even though your visa might have expired. Yes, make sure your I-20 is valid and you keep taking the minimum number of credits.
The only time you can think of going back is when you have a different visa, like H1, which you can apply after you graduate or permanent residence (green card).
I haven't heard anyone renew the student visa from outside US. So, don't ever do that mistake. Complete your education, get the OPT. Apply for H1, get it then go to Nepal. But if you ever leave the US with an expired visa, remember, you wont be allowed back.

It is perfectly possible. You can go to mexico or canada to renew your visa. However, to do so you have to have a very strong documents. If you are graduate students and paid by your univesity for your tuition and living expenses you will get your visa renewal pretty easily. If you are leaving on your own, then they will ask you to go back to your country for the visa application. Remember as soon as you apply for visa renewal, your previous visa is not valid, no matter your previous visa has not been expired yet.
If you want to go to mexico, there are agents they will charge you $100 and take you form hotel(USA) to mexico. they are quite good. I have not done yet but two of my friend did it. There was no problem in their case. Good luck
