Nepal Army soldier lost his life while trying to rescue a boy who had fallen into a well at Dhalko, Kathmandu.
Army jawan Dinesh Shrestha, who worked at the Mahabir Battallion, died while trying to pull the boy, Samir Pode, 14, out of the well Tuesday afternoon.
Shrestha, who was on his way home on vacation, readily went inside the deep well to pull out the boy after hearing the locals crying for help. Sadly, both of them could not survive. nepalnews.com

Nepal army are the real army. Can't be compared to that Bhatmara PLA. Who do nothing but sit and reproduce, get money in the cantonement. Yet another Army man dies doing his duty. So the figure rise to two.

I am deeply saddened with the news. Lives have been lost. But I feel like whenever any actions to be taken in rescues/such incidents. Your own saftey comes first. Let takes this two example : What were the saftey major Shrestha applied while trying to save the boy ? What about Rai's safty equipments while taking out the fallen cars . Well, It's great that you they lost their lives to save others but your life comes first . It's a shame Nepal Army as a whole . They act like a gerneal public ( anyone else) risk his/ her life sake of saving someone else in that respect I salute them. But it's stupid to lose your life , if you are not sure of saving someone else, I remember few years back a mother, and daugther died to save their daughter/sister in the river as both of them can't swim and they decided to save her .. ? I understand that they tried but how can you save someone's life you your self can't swim .. ! Hope Nepal Army General may learn lesson from this waste life of two brave soldiers ! Uncle Tom

daka tom it was not Nepal army General who sent this person there read more. Another thing don't try to act smart. Nepal army knows collectively and practically how to handle situation like this. It was the misfortune that this person lost his life.

bad man, sorry bad man, I don't mean not to regret of the lost lives. Honestly, I'm more saddned than you. I understand your sentiment too. Let me ask you one thing, I am puzzled how come you blame be as ' daka! If your level of understanding is so below , then I'm sorry to comment that way. To clearify you once more , My point is ' Every rescue team/person must give his/her safety first. If you don't have enough equipment/skills you better not to do so. It will be defame of Nepal Army if they do failed attempt of rescue. In other words , it's also a battle field. If you go for fighting with out weapons and you are shot straight in your chest , I don't think it's suitable to call you brave !!! Once again I regret that the lives were lost! uncle tom

I completely agree with Uncle Tom ji!! Bad man ji " gali garnai hatar tapailaye. agra ko kura laye gagra sanga dajera hudaina". -You can't go to extinguish a fire on house without fireproof jacket and other several knowledge that is required in rescue operation.- just an example to make it clear for you. shanta banau, awalokan garaun, chintan ra manan garera ani bichar byeakta garaun. kripaya gali chai kadapi nagaraun. May their souls rest in peace.

Uncle Tom,
I understand that your safety comes first, but would you sit there and watch while the boy is dying in the well? This person died while trying to save somebody else's life for God's sake. Look, I am not a firefighter but if somebody's house is burning and there is a little kid shouting for help, I wouldn't wait a bit longer but just go jump in and try to save him, not watch the little boy die. Its the same thing with everyday life. You don't expect to encounter situations like that, but when you do, heroes act to save the life, while you being a smartass as you think of your safety first, would instead watch somebody else's die. This is not to mean that there is anything wrong with that, it just means, you won't be a hero. Which is fine, because not always everybody dies a hero's death.
Take care buddy.
