Hello to the wonderful people of Sajha all the way from Nepal,

I am a lawyer practicing law in Nepal. As you all know, because the political instability in Nepal, I just want to sit outside my own country for some years. (Yeah, I know, we should not say that.. but really, I tried to be positive and tried to do something for the nation but I failed.. I just could not do anything.. Corruption and bribery is all over the country in such a way that we need a kind of revolution, to bring our country in right track.. and I do not have courage to do all these things.. I of course, feel for Nepal, but ... I regret to say that I want to escape from all these things for some years.. to do something good. )

I have a three years Bachelor's degree in Law and some years ( about 8 - 9 years)  of experience as a lawyer . I want to do some vocational law trainings in USA. Do you guys know where can I get info about those kinds of trainings or courses ?

I am hoping some genuine answers from you guys,

Thanks.

I chose this site because this is one of the major ( or only one ? ) sites in which Nepalese interact. Can you please suggest some good sites to me please. I desparately want to know whether I can find some kind of vocational courses in law suitable for me or not. I goggled it.. but no luck there.

Why don't u get  masters degree like MLA or so from US University.I'v no idea about vocational training. But u can come to US in f1 visa as a student .You know Santosh Giri is also a lawyer and I think he is doing masters or already got the license or don;t know for sure. But he is also a lawyer from Nepal in US.So,just contact him.He is the right person for you to discuss about your subject and immigration.

Sorry can't help much.

I heard about Madhavi Basnet and now she holds a good position in one of the Virginian college ( they used to live in Fairfax, VA )or University. Check that college or university.  She might be a help.

Oh you have ony three yrs. undergrad. Then, you need another 1 year to do masters.Maybe you can apply for transfer that is u already have three yrs undergrad and try for 4th year undergrad.Just find a law school, apply for undergrad.as  well as credit transfer.Send all your transcript.

Why don't you contact Santosh Gri or some other lawyer from Nepal residing in US?If they r helpful.they'll give you right information.

I suspect whether you will be able to get an undergrad law degree from US within a year based on your credits transferred from Nepal. Usually, they look at all the subjects you have done in Nepal and try to match that with their bachelor degree requirements. You will have to complete the balance in the US. Each university will come up with different credits for your Nepali degree as it is mostly subjective judgement by the colleges. To make the matter worse, law degrees in Nepal and US might be very different obviouly being in different juridictions. On the other hand, you may get some credits for your long work experience.

But you never know if you don't try. Good luck.
