Hello Sajhaites,
I have a topic of discussion. Any input from the experiences ones is highly appreciated. Am a US citizen going Nepal to marry, would like to hear from you on your experience on the best way to bring my spouse to the US. I heard that the CDO office people are bad and want 'tips' just to provide a marriage certificate.

I have two options, one is to produce a marriage certificate in Nepal and come back and put a petition to bring in spouse. The other option is to apply for fiance visa and prove that we have been together for a while. Which process do you think would be better? I really need good advice here. Thank you.

Obviously, the former one. The easiest way would be to get court marriage first (for documentation) and then doing jhyanakuti.

Good luck!

ok I am curious about one thing.
let's say a US citizen does do court marriage, then how long does it take before the spouse gets the US visa?

also the thread-starter mentioned about the fiancée visa, so what is the procedure for that. It is reliable, I mean has some probability of getting rejected.

Bhaisepati or any other folks who did this before, can you share your experience please. I am about to do the same shortly.

How long it took for the whole process?  KTM Embasssy talks about "an immigrant or a non-immigrant (K3) visa" options. Which one you chose? Step-by-step process.  If you prefer to email me directly, please reply at rinstl@hotmail.com  Thank you all!

I had a same problem last year. What I did was asked VDC/Municipality secretary to make a marriage certificate once I got married and did english translation and send to USCIS. Everything went well and my wife was granted visa within 90 days from the day I applied. My case was little different from others as I was in a military. But english translation from VDC should work.
