I am in the Junior year of my undergraduate degree right now. I will be getting married in spring. I was just wondering, what are the chances of getting visa, if my wife applies as a dependent? Has any one gone through this type of situation?

It is a difficult issue. For undergraduate, you should have strong assistanceship or scholarship. Generally, graduate student has scholarship so that this little bit easy for them, for undergraduate it would be a difficult scenario. So, before apply make sure before applying, it is a luck but still, for undergraduate if you don't have strong assistantship, it is more gambling. I have that experience for graduate study. Best of luck.

Rockey, America is no picnic. Don't come with too many romantic notions if you are bringing a wife. Also, make sure that she comes with the right expectations. Realize that as soon as you bring a wife you are losing flexibility that a single person has. If you are single, then you can bunk in a room with 3 other guys. As soon as you bring a wife, you can't do that. Depending on your financial situation, if you've married a "Kathmandu heroin" who is coming to show off her new glasses and jeans in America instead of working long hours in any job she gets, she might be more trouble than assistance. If she is coming to do any work she can get her hands on and be of assistance to you, and she has little demands and expectations, then it could be a good thing. But realize that any time that goes towards keeping her happy instead of focussing on earning money and doing school, is valuable time being wasted. On top of that realize medical expenses. Realize that she may get pregnant. Realize she may elope with another guy because you are too busy to spend time with her. Anyway, I don't know if you found my words unpalatable. You seemed desperate for feedback, so I'm giving it to you.

He is a junior. He does not need any advice about his married life here. I guess he is just wondering if his spouse can obtain a visa to US. It just depends on your bank statement and wedding pics. If you have enough of those, there is no reason to scratch you head so much.

Homeyji,
You are right in some extent. But I'm pretty sure that I don't have to deal with such situation. Any ways I have seen people from other countries in F1 status bringing their wife as a dependent. Therefore I was also wondering if any Neplease has succeeded in bringing their spouse while doing undergraduate.
