- Girls around New Road & Kings Way ... watch out ...
- don't know if this is a new/old song ... (just came across it now ...)
- i like the cartoonish depiction of Kings Way in this song ...

I love how the video starts off by saying "Stop piracy, save nepali artists" and then proceeds to rip off ATB's Dont stop theme. Kudos! Kudos!

@ dekchidriver,

- alright, U made me work this time ... i will get U for this ... (just kidding)

- according to the following search Raju Gurung might have the upper hand ...
- Raju's song was released in 1997 whereas ATB's song was released in 1999 ...

- Wiki Source for ATB::
"Don't Stop!" was a 1999 single released by ATB with vocals by Yolanda Rivera which was a number 13 hit in his nativeGermany and reached number 3 in the UK Singles Chart. The track was featured on many compilations. In 2000, it appeared on a mix from San Francisco's Mars & Mystre.

CHILDWOOD:
I was born on September 27th to Kami Gurung and Mindo Gurung at Chettrapathi, Kathmandu. I'm
the eldest in my family. I have a younger brother too. I started my schooling from Sun Rise Bording School and then moved on to Little Angel's School. Basically, I spent most of my childhood days in a hostel and have always been interested in singing and dancing. There used to be numerous dancing and singing competitions in school and I made it a point to take part in as many as possible. However, I was rather reluctant in performing on stage because I was a very shy kid, but I am told that I used to get along very well with fellow students and teachers. I enjoyed hanging out and joking around with my friends. I then joined Peoples Campus but had to discontinue my studies because of my business commitments in Singapore and Malaysia.

ENTRY INTO THE MUSIC FIELD:
I have had huge passion for music ever since I was a kid. I wrote my first song when I was in the 7th grade. I always loved listening to dancing numbers; music by Michael Jackson, Milli Vaneli, Dr
Alban, Bob Marley, Lobo and Guns n Roses were my favorites. I took up music seriously after my SLC. My close friends Karma Gurung, Karma Rumba, Karma Dorjee, Rajesh Khadgi and myself formed a band called Marshyang-Q when we were in collage. We used to be quite occupied doing various gigs and performing at numerous programs in different collages. Our first recorded song was called ‘Sukumari’ for a collection album. After it was received rather well, it encouraged us to record an album; which we did. ‘Beautiful Girls’ was released in 1997 under the label of Santana Records. The song ‘Beautiful Girls’ was a huge hit at that time and now I have just released my solo album named "B-52". It has altogether eight songs and I have reworked and included ‘Beautiful Girls’ in it too. Two of my music videos ‘Beautiful Girls’ and ‘Senorita’ are being aired through various TV channels and my third music video of the song ‘Kasam’ will be on air after Tihar.

Black_panther,

Thats no joke man! If Raju Gurung DID have the upperhand (if what he claims is correct) then technically ATB infringed :) hahah thats gonna be one helluva case dude.. raju gurung could get RICH! maybe :) I'm no lawyer but I would think so.

There does seem to be a bit of a confusion though. The song up there is a "remix". Any chance of getting his original 1997 track? maybe he didn't have the 'atb - dont stop' motif in the intro back then..

CafeDeNepal ...

In what initially just started as a hobby, developed into a passion resulting in the formation of a band named ‘Marshyang-Q’. Along with close buddies with similar interests in music, Raju Gurung did manage to create quite a hype about ten years back. Because of varied interests of the band members and other personal commitments, namely helping out with his family business, music for him took a back seat. After an hiatus of nine long years, Raju is back with a brand new album; the charm and the finesse still very evident in spite of having been ‘away’ from music for so long. ‘A soft spoken fellow with a big heart and enormous amount of zest for life’ is what most describe him as. Well! Below are some of the excerpts of a short conversation that we had with Raju the other day.

Image

Many years ago, you had a band and the song ‘Beautiful Girls’ was quite popular at that time. When did you exactly start taking music seriously?
It was in 1995 that we came up with a band named ‘Marshyang-Q’ and even managed to release an album named ‘Beautiful Girls’ in 1997. There were altogether five members in the band, Karma Gurung on rhythm guitars, Karma Rumba on Lead, Karma Dorje on bass, Rajesh Khadgi on Drums and myself on vocals. It was a different time and we did make some quality music then!

What eventually happened to the band?
I must say it was because we were involved in different professions and it was just a hobby for us except two of our band members Karma Rumba and Rajesh Khadgi. They continued with music as their profession but we couldn’t for different reasons.

Why such a long gap of nine years before venturing out on a solo career?
It’s because I was involved with my own work...my own business to take care of. As I said, when we started it was just a hobby, you can say we were not serious at all.

Is there anything special that brought you back to music?
In these many years when I was involved with my business, I felt something was surely missing in my life and later I realized it was music. Moreover, whenever I met my friends they always asked me why I wasn’t doing music anymore! Hearing the same thing time and again from my friends, I decided to do some music and after all these years I’ve come up with an album which was released just a few months back. It’s called ‘B-52’.

If I’m not mistaken B-52 is basically a bomber plane that carried nuclear weapons during the cold wars. How does the name relate to your album?
Yah! B-52 is a bomber plane! But the name is also used for cocktails and shooters. As the B-52 cocktail/ shooter contains mixed flavors of different drinks, likewise the album contains different flavor of music. It made perfect sense because of the relevance.

Could you tell us more about the album ‘B-52’?
There are altogether eight songs in the album which includes Hip Hop, R&B, dance numbers and also some slow numbers. There is also a funky number. There is a remake of the song ‘Beautiful Girls’ which we had done ten years back. The video of the song and the album was released together. Now I’ve come up with another video of the song titled ‘Senorita’ which has been received pretty well.

As you mentioned earlier, music was just a hobby for you. Are you now taking it as a profession?
No! no! It’s still a hobby but I’m much more serious about it these days. These days our listeners are very specific about what kind of music they want and I’m just trying not to disappoint them!

How has the response for the album been so far?
I’ve been receiving quite a great deal of compliments so far. My first video from the album ‘Beautiful Girls’ did well and now the video of the song ‘Senorita’ has been released sometime back and I’ve also completed another music video and the song is titled ‘Kasam’ which has an R&B pattern and probably will be released after Tihar. I’m also planning for my 4th music video from the same album and the song would be ‘Timilai Bhetera’ which is written and composed by a good friend of mine Nima Rumba.

What do you do during your ‘fursad’?
I listen to music, watch TV, jam up and hang out with my friends!

Anything you want to share with us before we wrap up?
I’d like to thank all the people behind my album ‘B-52’ and thanks to all my listeners too for having appreciated my efforts and of course, thank you for letting me share my thoughts through fursad.com!

I did not read much but this song was not originally with ATB music. Raju has been influenced by ATB or frankly speaking copied them. But if he admits that then I don't think its a big deal..

Stop Piracy banner though true is bit 'nasuhaune' in this case....Cartoonist is definitely good...
